    Unsolvable thermostat housing leak

    Hey guys,

So I had a coolant leak back in may in my 2007 3.2 and the dealer replaced the thermostat housing and water pump. My car was up for sale for a while when we noticed another leak and dealer replaced the thermostat housing again (under repair warranty) citing a defective housing used in the original repair. That was on November 19, dealer inspected and found no leaks and car was barely driven until it was sold last Sunday. The new owner contacted me about a coolant leak and said he had it inspected and found the thermostat housing leaking again. So I have a couple questions now.

Will the repair warranty be transferrable to the new owner?

And what could be the problem. The odds of a brand new thermostat housing leaking after only 200 miles should be near zero, so what else could be causing the leak, yet continuously be diagnosed as a faulty thermostat housing?

    Thanks in advance!

I would assume that the warranty on the work would transfer to the new owner. they still performed the work, nothing changed except the owner of the car. although...... this is AOA....

It's possible they pinched the o-ring when they installed it...I did this and it leaked almost immediately. Or it isn't torqued properly. It should be relatively easy to determine where the leak is actually coming from...clean everything, go for a drive, see where it's wet.
