    2016 Audi S4 Production

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello All

I did a bit of a search but the keywords I used didn't seem to locate a thread that would address my question.

I am wondering when the final production date for the B8 S4 is scheduled to be. I ask because I am considering a Euro delivery option but seeing as how the B9 is coming very soon, I do not know if that is going to work for me. I would like to pick it up in the May/June 2016 time frame.

Also, is there any dealers on here (in CA) that support/sponsor the forums? Over on bimmerfest.com there are a few BMW dealers that support the forums and give great deals on vehicles. That's how we picked up my wifes X1. I was wondering if we had something similar here?

And I require a B8 (or is it B8.5 now?) S4 as a manual transmission is a must have for me. Sure the '17's may have some superior features, but I hear they are killing the MT so they are a no go for me.

    Thanks!

Correct, the B9 S4 will not be offered with a manual transmission. The B8.5 is the last to have a clutch pedal. You would probably get a good deal this month as dealerships close out the year.

I've heard that Audi is not taking any more orders for manual trans cars. So, you might need to search dealer inventory.

Unfortunately build orders for B8.5 MY16 ended September/Q3 15'. This goes for both S-Tronic and 6MT.. based on multiple dealers here in East Coast. Was fortunate to have snuck my order in before and received my b8.5 a month ago.

Build sheet details have not yet been released for B9, and at this point once cannot custom order an S4. Dealer inventory is all that remains in NA.

My dealer told me that the B9 S4 won't be arriving until early 2017 as a 2018 model. However, I learned a long time ago to put little stock in what they say.

Here's the timeline they emailed me when I asked about upcoming models but I'd take this with a HUGE grain of salt.

The all new B9 S4 will be here in early 2017 as an '18MY. We won't be getting the RS4
    B9 A5/S5 Coupé in March 2017.
All new Q5/SQ5 April 2017 as well as the R8 Spyder and TT RS.
    B9 A5/S5 Sportback and A5/S5 in May 2017.
    SQ7 in July 2017.
    RS3 in August 2017

They are not taking any more orders. I bought a 2016 6MT in early Nov and had to go a few states away to find one in the right color even close to the right options.

I was surprised to read that the US has been getting 6MT cars. It's not been an option over here since 2011.
I used to be a 'must be a manual' driver until I test drove an S4 with s-tronic. I understand why people still want the 6MT but I do find the s-tonic better.

Normally production stops in early May so they can change over the plant for the next model year. They probably have a week or 2 of actual down time before they start up again. I got one of the first 2015 A4's as a loaner and it was marked 5/14 on the Vin placard. And when I looked around found a date of 5/25 on a build sticker. I know when guys had their next model year on order they were arriving to the ports here in mid of June to late June. So that give you some sort of time frame by my knowledge and reading.

Best bet is to go into the deal and ask and if you don't like their answer go to another and ask and if you are getting the same answer guesses are its probably a good answer that you can't order anymore.

No RS4? That seems to contradict some other reports, and was hoping we would see it here.

Any word on an S4 Avant? I'd probably trade my S4 in on it.

Any info on the SQ7? My wife would LOVE that thing!

As I said, I would take all of that with a HUGE grain of salt. Especially the comment that the S4 isn't coming out until early 2017 as a 2018 car.

i was told ordering for them might not be until ballpark summer/fall of 2016 with the first batches coming in end of 2016 as 2017 models. that was from my dealer but they also added they have no idea yet. realistically i am thinking 2017 is a safe bet to see them. i am waiting for one but i am also looking at a 2015 model that i will probably settle with.

if you want a manual S4 you will have to get one on a dealers lot. Even before the orders for 2016 closed, manual tranny production cars had closed. Goo]d luck, But try the DSG it really is a nice tranny. I could of got a 6mt when I custom ordered my 2015, but after several test drives, I chose the DSG for my 2015. No regrets. There should be many 2016 DSG cars on lots with options you may want, including Sport Diff (a must have for me and many others). BTW DSG is not dead except on b9 S4.. B9 A4's will have DSG as only Tranny so far according to order guide/

If a manual is a must for you, you must act immediately.
There appears to be 4 left nationwide.

I jumped on the chance to grab one of last manuals available the moment I heard B9 was auto-only and production of 2016s had ended.
That was at the end of September. I'm really glad I did.

I used Audi's search inventory feature by plugging-in different zip codes. If I found one I liked, I clicked on it to get the VIN.
Then google VIN to locate actual dealer. Next step, go to the dealer site, locate car in question in the inventory and then e-mail them for a quote.
I had to drive 350 miles, 3 states over, to get mine.

I ordered my 2016 S4 manual on June 30 and took delivery on September 25. As the delivery date was drawing near, I started hearing rumors that Audi dealers were no longer accepting orders for S4's with manual transmissions. On the day I picked up my car I asked my salesman about this and he confirmed it to be true. He also told me that my car may very well have been in the last production run with manual transmissions installed in these cars. For several months, I kept seeing manuals at the six dealers in my area but now there are none.
