    Lower boost 30psi

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey maybe someone can enlighten me here. I tought i could lower boost with a manual boost controller in parallel with n75 but it doesnt. I had k04 with a good tune runing 25 psi but turbos didnt liked it.. So now i have rs6 k24 with same tune hitting 30+ psi. I know need tune but im not ready and its running good just to much boost. So i try with mbc in parallel didnt lowered it.. I removed ball and spring from mbc, still nothing.. So i removed the mbc and connect the hoses direct and still 30+ psi?!? What is it i dont understand?

I think if you want your mbc to control boost you need to put it in place of the n75, not in parallel. Try that, and make sure you have it set for low boost and slowly raise it until you're at 25 or wherever you'd like to be

You should honestly just keep the n75 unplugged and run wastegate pressure. No point in risking anything dumb happening.

    Torn wastegate line?

Pressure test your wastegates and see if they A. Hold pressure, and B. Open

Sounds like you have a prob with the charge control lines, or 30psi gates.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

Cranked down to 30psi cracking, or maybe boost creeping.

Gates that open at 30 psi, or your gates aren't seeing any pressure because the line is torn.

It's pretty simple really. Time to do some diagnosis.

Ok i checked and there is a leak in the driver side wastegate line. I can hear and feel it pretty big leak but i could not source it from above. I will have to check under the turbo. The actuators didnt move. Thanks for the help. I hope this can be fixed

Start looking at motor mount diy's, easy to get to the lines with the mounts out of the way.

That sucks. I bought my car with torn wastegate lines... didn't know until I put a boost gauge in lol. But I was able to run a long piece of vacuum hose from the wastegate actuator sort of towards the front of the car then up and back to the tee. lol
It wasn't pretty but I did it without removing hardly anything and it worked until I had the motor out.

A few years ago I never thought I'd find myself saying things that end with "...when the motor's out next" lol

Thats pretty much how you have to do it with the motor in to stay away from the exhaust manis.
Its kinda tough to replace the soft lines to the hard lines, but an arsenal of funny pliers helps.

I didn't read that all the way before commenting. I'm guessing torn lines, for the gates to be set to open at 30psi would just be completely weird.

And if you bought these from Sean@SRM he usually checks the gates before shipping them off. Doesn't mean accidents don't happen but he is pretty good about quality control.

Hey I was able to replace the line going to the wg actuator. Now no leak and wg open around 15 psi. But i test the car with same result. I cant lower boost with mbc. Now im thinking how can i check if there is a leak in the line going from turbo to n75. Is it with a boost leak test?

Normal psi test will pressurize those.

Did boost leak test and no more leaks. I couldnt lower boost with the mbc in paralell with n75 for some reason. But when i tried mbc only i can set it to 20 or higher. It does spike 1 or 2 psi with mbc only. Maybe if i used Y fitting for the parralel it would be better than T..?

    Y vs T wont make a difference.
What psi are you shooting for?
Run mbc only and call it a day. The k04 tune is nowhere near being able to control those turbos.

Yea i guess i will run mbc only. Actually it is a custom tune for hybrid rs6 997. I will try around 25 psi. I dont know why it didnt work in paralell
