Question What is this and how do I fix it?

After doing a pressure test I found a leaking air hose but I am not sure what the hose is called or if it could be causing my whistling noise at 2500+ RPMs. I'll post a few pics below and if you guys could help me figure out what it is and if it could be causing my problem i would very much appreciate it! It's the hose that's covered in a clothlike material and it's located below the passenger side headlight

That is your passenger side inter cooler hose to the passenger side intercooler. Check if the clamps are loose or the hose itself is cracked or ripped to or replace

Thank you. When I applied pressure i could feel the air coming out of the actual hose itself where it must be ripped open. Would this be the cause of my whistling noise?

Depends on how big the tear is. But imo that could be the noise. Pretty sure some member that has upgraded into a fmic can sell you a used hose. I sold my passenger side stuff to another member. So I cant help you there

Judging from the amount of air I could feel when I stuck my hand down there to feel, it is quite a large rip. I used a bike pump to do the pressure test so it wouldn't hold any pressure for even a split second.

I suggest you the hose and check it physically 1st before you purchase another one. Its fairly easy to remove

I'm going to take it off tomorrow and see what it looks like, thanks for the help! Been trying to find the source of that noise for months now and I think I finally found it.

If I didn't need new tires and an alignment I might but all my extra money has gotta go towards maintenance unfortunately, maybe later! Haha.

No CEL, car was scanned about a month ago but it hasn't been scanned since then so something might come up if I go get it scanned again. Not having a Vag-com sucks.

Im not sure. Its been awhile since I had my stock smic stuff. Maybe another member can use ETKA part diagram to be sure by looking it up for you. I do not have a user account set up with them. Or when you the hose. There is a part# etched into so you can be positive to order the rite part

You have the wrong hose. The one in your picture is on the passenger side which in the parts diagram is "Right Upper".

Here is the parts diagram you need:

Be aware of the vin split. Not sure if the hose is different, but here: eBay LINK
