I can't stand fishbowling. I'm a big proponent of tinting the windows. The least and most I'd ever have on a car is 35% all around. It is nice for a few reasons in my opinion: security against people not being able to quickly glance and see what's in your car, it's nice at night for keeping road light out from other cars, it cools the car down if it's outside in the summer, and then lastly but not least, it makes the car look great to have the contrasting glass. On a black car I'm less of a fan of dark tints for that same reason.

Some people go a bit further than I would and go too dark (opinion) and do other parts like the front windshield which I find unnecessary (opinion).

I'm a big fan of tinting, but not ridiculously dark. It's a B5 obviously, but in the ball park on color. This was when I got my Z tinted, made a huge difference in how the car looked. Much more upscale in my opinion, cut down on glare, more privacy, cut down on radiant heat. 35% on front windows, 20% on rear hatch.

Pictures don't do it justice, and actually the front windshield was untouched. Just less light getting let in through the other windows which gives it that appearance.

to quote a famous rap lyric:

"i got no tint on the windows so ni&&as know who's inside" I am happy to be seen in my noggy

My car spends much of its time parked in the garage, so summer heat isnt a big deal, although there are days when I have had it outside and really wish I put some 35% on it. As my eyes age I need all the light I can get while night driving lol

I think a more pressing issue is the 4x4 monster truck suspension status.

Since your car is silver, I think it would look good with mild tints. I have a silver B5 A4, so pretty similar.
    This was before tint:

This was just after tint, 50% front windows & 35% rear windows / rear glass:

Tint it. I wouldn't go more then 20% around, i have 20% on everything but the sunroof and the front windshield and to be honest it is kinda hard to see when backing up. So i agree with the recommendations for going with 35%

I like the fishbowl look, take a look at different pics and decide for yourself. There are tons of pics in the random pic/wheel threads.

I'm always worried the auto dimming mirrors won't work worth a damn if I tint, won't be much of an issue for rear view, but that's where the sensor is so the side view won't dim enough and I'll get blinded, front tint isn't legal where I am.
the B5 S4 is like the mafia... there is only one way out!

The previous owner put some "expensive" tint that is almost like a rx300 factory tint on my silver car and LOVE it. It's not metallic but its not black, don't get harassed by cops and it looks classier. Blacking out stuff is kinda a thing of the past, not saying you were going that route. Wish I had a close up pic of mine to show what I am talking about

Every car I've had has been tinted until the avant. I kind of like the fishbowl, plus when people break necks to look at your car it's fun to watch their reaction once they realize there been acknowledged lol

Not legal in California either, but doesn't stop many people. I live near a police station so that's why I went 50% front windows.

MetalMan is also on the FBI's most wanted so he likes not drawing too much attention to himself.

Tint it. Just don't do different levels front and rear, imho that looks worse then no tint. Obviously state laws depending.

Here's mine, 35% front and rear, legal in Oregon and Washington.

Pic makes tint look much darker then is.

The dimming sensors built into the rear view mirror, my b6 has 35% in the rear and 50 on the front doors and my auto dimming barely functions unless there is a huge jacked up truck behind me.

My dimming mirrors work pretty well even with 35% ish tint (or whatever the car came with).
