Just got my block back from.the machine shop, got it cleaned and a light hone to clean up the bores. When I went down the guy said thete was still a few marks on it and it looks like a bit of a ridge starting. The thing is the whole bore was mint on all cylinders, still crosshatched just glazed hence the light hone. The pistons popped out ok not catching. You can almost feel these marks with your finger, I dont have a dti and bore gauge yet. But if you put a straight edge across I cant see a gap under realy. I could measure with a ring but what will the measurement correspond to? Anyway heres the pics.

I just got my block back from a hone and it appears I have about the same amount of wear. It is obviously hard to tell how much without comparing measurements however.

In my opinion, if your machinist was fine with giving it back to you, then its fine to run.

Re-ring it with stock pistons and call it a day.

Yeah no point in comparing measurments.....you'll loose bahahaha, my machinist said he would run it. And my buddy who is og mechanic said he cant feel it so he would run it. I can definitely feel something of a ridge, but it is discoloured and differnt textured too which doesnt help.

Run it, many have without problems.
Other option includes dropping 1k on a new set of pistons.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

Looks like your machinist was trying to help you out by removing as little material as possible. If it concerns you then get a dial bore gauge and start measuring the bores. If you're re-using stock pistons measure them with a vernier micrometer and calculate your piston to wall clearance. I was planning to re-use stock pistons on my current build, but after honing I would have been just over 5 thou p2w which is about twice as much as I would want using the factory mahle units. I ordered new pistons.
