    Titan Fuchs Sintofluid Q's

    Heyya Azine,

Don't want to turn this into a trans / diff fluid debate. I just placed an order for 5 quarts of the Fuchs Titan Sintofluid 75w80 after all the praise it has gotten from various members and Scotty @ Advanced.

I plan on running this in my freshly rebuilt 01E and rear diff. From what I've read on the forums the trans itself requires a GL-4 fluid and the rear diff a GL-5.

When pulling up specs for Titan Sintofluid, it strictly lists it as a GL-5 fluid. Since I don't have extensive knowledge with trans fluids, here are my questions:

    1) Is running GL-5 in the trans OK for the long term? I know Motul and other brands are GL-4/GL-5 compliant. From my brief searching I've read that GL-5 will prematurely wear away at yellow metals (ie brass synchros etc)

    2) Recommended viscosity is 75W90, will running a 75W80 fluid be ok? I know more than likely it wont make a difference, but after spending all this $$ on the trans I want to be sure it lasts as long as possible.

    3) What is the recommended service interval after a rebuild for a fluid change?

    Thanks!

I know this doesn't answer any of your three questions but... I've had this fluid in my transmission for about 10k miles after being rebuilt. Many hard shifts, NLS and Antilag launches and no issues at all.

As for Viscosity - I wouldn't be too concerned. There are a lot of oils that are advertised as a certain viscosity but test as another.

    Scott knows his stuff..

If you're still worried and don't want to use it, I'll take 2 quarts off your hands for my rear diff.

    lol, I don't doubt Scotty I'm just being OCD/curious.

Did you do a flush of your trans after a few break in miles? Or are you still running the same fluid?

I placed an order on Monday, but havent heard anything about the status :(

The GL rating is grossly outdated.. Used to GL5 contained sulfur based additives and GL4 did not. Since sulfur likes to eat away at copper bearing compounds (synchro rings) manual transmissions were recommended to use GL4.. However due to tree hugging Hippy types Sulfur has for the most part been removed from GL5 fluids.

Your order will be there Friday.
