    what is this wires? and where to buy a replacement

    I found there is a broken wires in my car. it is right at the hood lock/latch area. I touched it and it melted. can someone please help to ID it and where can I get a replacement?

    That is for the hood latch switch. You can cut off the end of the wires and reconnect to the switch.

    thank you very much.
    is there any way to take the switch off ? where the wires was broken off, it looks like a black epoxy seal. i probably need to heat it up and peel it off then solder the wires in.

    I'd probably just loop those two wires together. The only thing is, you wont know when your hood is open, but then again, you should always know the answer to that question.

    With how often our hoods are open it's easy to lose track.

    I will take a look at the hood switch tonight. i will tackle it. it just look like a toggle switch with some metal reinforced.
