Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Is there any way to gets the fogs to turn on and stay on every time I start the car? Really annoying to have to turn them on every time.

Also, anyone have suggesion for a fog HID conversion? Any brands better than others?

You can enable them as DRLs with VAG-Com

I don't remember how I configured it with Vagcom but my fogs light up when my low HIDs are on. My headlights are on auto setting to the end result is when it's dark both my HIDs are fogs are on automatically. So if that's what you want then it's possible. As I recall it's somewhere in the DRL settings of Vagcom as was mentioned previously in this thread but I don't remember exactly where.

I haven't put HID fogs into my car yet but on my last one I used Theretrofitsource.com to get them. Excellent quality bulbs and excellent customer assistance. It was my first HID conversion so they helped a lot. Also, if something doesn't fit or incorrect they exchange with no charge to you.

wondering why u would want them on every time if its not foggy out?

either way, I use DDmtuning HID kit on my a5, s5, and g35 coupe and they all work perfectly

just be careful, since you seem to want to run them all the time that it might generate too much heat and melt your housing

Simply it looks cool LOL, I really prefer the hid fog on when headlight on. Since I have been go through 3 set of ballast already, so after the current blast again, I will go for led fog.

lol I guess to each their own. I prefer the no fog look on the 5 body, which is why the rs5 bumper is pure secks

3 sets of ballast? wow. my ddm ballast on my g35 coupe has been going strong even after 6 years. never had an issue.

Lol, because we dun have the aggressive rs5 front so we need the fog on to pretend aggressive!

Maybe the bad winter we have, the salt and melted snow always get trapped in to the ballast and there is not much space to mount the ballast in a safer place so I will go for the ballaat free led after this one bust again

Two reason to keep them on, one practical and one not: 1) where I live a lot of the road don't have curbs and I have constantly turn on the figs to see the side of the road closer to my car to watch for junk on the road while a king turns, and 2) they look cooler on!

On my S5 the front bumper looks very similar to the RS5.. it's pretty agressive looking. The main diff I see is the shape of the fogs.

LED fogs are an idea someone mentioned.. hmmm. Any suggestions for those?

Eh, I think the fogs look stupid, but that could be because I'm running the OEM halogen bulbs that are yellowish and ugly. I only turn on my fogs when the conditions prompt me to. I do plan, however, to enable them as cornering lamps next time I'm around someone with a VagCom.

I don't think we've ever used the fog lamps in our Evo, because they're mounted at the same height as the normal headlights and offer basically no benefit at all, even if the conditions call for fog lamps.

That's EXACTLY the point of my original post! I'd like them to be the same color as the headlights and stay on all the time.

Set Fogs (bit 3) and High Beams (bit 2) as DRL with VCDS:
    Code:
    [09 – Cent. Elect.]
    [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 2
Bit 1 = DRL via Front Side markers
Bit 2 = DRL via High Beams
Bit 3 = DRL via Fogs
Bit 4 = DRL via LEDs
Bit 6 = DRL via Side markers
Bit 7 = DRL via Tail lights
If you also want to keep the fogs on with High beams (only a problem on NA models) then enable it as below:

Front Fog Lights stay on with High-beams:
    Code:
    [09 – Cent. Elect.]
    [Coding - 07] -> [Long Coding Helper] -> Byte 4
    Bit 1 - Change 1 to 0

What about disabling the fog lamps turning on with your lock/unlock security feature? Anyone know how to do that?

Isn't it the DRLs that are been used for the CH/LH feature ?? - do you have the Fogs enabled as DRL ??

Would love to have this enabled basically fogs also on auto headlight settings. But from what what I've seen, no one has been able to figure this one out. The DRL setting would keep them on 24/7 even in bright light which I don't want.

This is possible through vag com, I think it was called pathway lighting? you can select or deselect as you like. The A/S models have fogs selected while the RS has headlights selected.

I don't have fogs enabled as DRL, because I don't even like the fog lamps. If I turn off my lighting feature none of my rear lights light up when I unlock the car.

Yup, only want fog turn on when low-beam headlight on. Actually the DRL setting is not on 24/7. When low beam headlight on, the fog will off unless press the fog light switch on again.

The drl and fogs are used for ch/lh lights on the a/s models. The rs uses low beam
