    Looking at a used A6

I am in the market for a used A6 (a C6, or maybe even a C5) I had an Audi 80 back in the 90's and I loved it. I now drive a 2006 Mini cooper S with a 15% smaller pulley and a few more mods. It is also a 6 speed manual and it's my daily driver. I am looking for something with equal or greater performance. If I could mod it slowly that would be a plus too. It would also become my daily driver. I am amazed how many engine options there were for these cars. I am not sure if I want a 2.0t, a 4.2 v8, a 3.2... I am looking for something reliable and do a lot of my own work to my cars. I would assume that the car I get would have around 100k on it.

Are there certain engines, cars, transmissions to avoid?

I also just looked at a 07 BMW 328xi, but it had an awful list of problems on the forums.

    1. Don't get a BMW

    2. Avoid auto transmissions on pretty much any Audi prior to 2007

    3. Get a 2.7t Allroad or A6, or S4. They're great.

    2003 Audi S6 Avant
    2005 Audi S4 6MT SOLD, 2001.5 S4 6MT SOLD, 2001.5 S4 Tip SOLD, '00 A6 2.7t Quattro 6mt SOLD, '97 A4 2.8 Quattro 5mt SOLD

Bmw xdrive is a joke, but nothing wrong with a e36/e39 series rwd bmw.

I must say i have one tiptronic and one 6 speed. I can see why people prefer the 01e, reliability, lower failure rate, and correct me if i am wrong gents, but apparently the manual gearbox can hold 500whp until you start running into issues with that.

Have a c5 a6 myself but must say after seeing all the beautiful allroads over here, makes me want to get my own. Air suspension, wide fenders. And if you prefer v8 muscle you can get an AR with a 4.2 also.. which is great.
