Fluidampr crank pulley and the tiptronic trans

I am starting to think a fluidampr pulley paired with a tiptronic may be the way to get rid of those vibrations the tip cars have at idle/low rpm. Anyone on the 'zine running one? Its a costly part but its a very high quality item.

I know the 1.8T guys have had great luck with it, especially those who converted to lightweight single mass flywheels. I've been around these cars for a long time. Even the tiptronic 1.8T's in the B5/B6 cars had vibrations similar to ours brand new off the delivery truck. I've used fluidampr on some drag cars in the past. It really does help smooth out engine harmonics and is a top quality piece, its also fulfills some SFI requirements for certain NHRA classes. We've run them up to 9000 rpms on some of the drag cars.

From what I've read, fluidampr on a 2.0 will INCREASE vibrations

I've never heard of anyone saying that. The whole point of a true harmonic balancer is to decrease vibrations by having the balancer absorb them allowing the engine to spin smoother.

    i don't think so.

maybe, just maybe, you're thinking about aftermarket engine mounts increasing vibrations on tiptronics

i can't find the post but it was something about not being good/worthwhile unless you have a fully built valvetrain shooting for revs past the factory limiter, eliminating the factory balance something or other, what the fuck ever. i have no idea. put no less than 9 fluidamprs on there.

zero chance that it makes more internal vibration. think about what its doing, balancing the crank more. The whole point up the upgrade from a performance standpoint is that it reduces knock so you can run more timing...

higher density motor mounts will increase cabin vibrations on any car. the point of those is less flex in the mount so it will by nature transfer more vibrations

Bringing this back from the dead.

Picked up a fluidampr pulley from USP during the black friday sale. My theory was wrong about it curing the vibrations at idle on tiptronic cars, it didn't help at all in the aspect. I will say though, it made a night and day difference on how the car drives. Going wot while merging onto the highway never felt smoother. Other than the idle vibrations, the car is much much smoother throughout the whole rpm range. So all in all it was still worth it.
