Ok so I am about to leave today start my car and it struggles to start, but starts. Rather than risk it we take my wifes car, get home run the codes and I get one for P0343 camshaft position sensor and one for P150A. If anyone knows about the latter please give me some insight, but the first code however I just figure I would check the engine and found this
it looks as though the wire was ripped apart, and more so than usual were some leaves there like animals were in there. My car normally sits in the garage but has been out for the past couple of days.

My question is does the sensor replace the wiring that is ruined? And does anyone know about the P150A code seems rare?

    I am a 2009 Audi Avant with 110xxx

Looks like a mouse got in there. If you are competant with wiring splice the wires back together with a soldering gun and heat shrink wrap....its not a rare code for Audi's.

PC Principal, no not the code for camshaft sensor the P150A seems to not be much out there, and the car does not drink oil its just dirty. I would like to replace the wire completely anyone know what wire that would be?

Replacing that wire would most likely mean tearing your engine harness apart. If you can repair it via solder and shrink wrap then that is the way to go 110% it will function and be protected as if it was new. P150A, i've read about a software update resolving that issue on the late vw 2.0t's.

And to be clear I assume I need to just disconnect the battery like with any wiring.

Yup. If you doubt yourself at all I would suggest having a friend who works wiring/ electronics ect take a look...I soldered my fan control module myself on an older a4 I owned, it looked like a hackjob but it worked for 75k miles untill I got rid of the car.

Or, use some nice wire connectors and shrink wrap over them. May need to splice in a piece of wire to make up the gap

I was going to suggest this, infact I even had repaired my FCM with crimped wire connectors originally, but my mechanic friend warned of possible corrosion with the wiring being in the elements. However the Fcm harness I repaired sits directly behind the grill (ultra exposed to elements) unlike the OP's situation where its a bit more isolated. Just an observation.

If you are unable to solder I'm sure connectors may also be a viable option.

I think if you put shrink tube over them, they'd be protected from any elements. Right?

Prevent nice from getting in there ever again ----- PURE PEPPERMINT OIL..... not extract.

I had a critter problem a few years ago on my Sportwagen TDI. Someone recommended sprinkling about 5 to 6 drops in the eligible bay about every six weeks during winter and is never have the problem again.

Sure as shit ---- I also sprinkle it the peppermint oil in my garage and haven't had so much as a mouse tied in there for years.

Do you lasso them before they are tied up?

So weird. I got the EPC/MIL light today and noticed that it took a good 4-5 seconds for my car to start up. I ran the code and it was related to the Crankshaft position sensor. I look at it, and the wiring is destroyed in exactly the same place as yours. I have a hard time believing a mouse got to it since it was parked in the garage, and it's a tight fit with the engine cover.

Edit: Looks like I was wrong. Found a rat/mouse turd in my engine bay. They must prefer camshaft sensor wires :)

They will find the best, warmest spot and it would appear... this is it.

Rodents chewing into wiring is a problem for European vehicles. As it was explained to me, wiring harnesses for European brands are very attractive to critters, because the wrap around the wiring is made with a vegetable based product.
