I have a near perfect condition Full Android 4.4 Navigation DVD head unit in the form of an RNS-E up for sale. This will fit in 2002-2008 Audi A4 models B6 and B7.
This headunit is "better than new" in that I've already sorted out some of the configuration stuff, and updated the MCU and ROM. Also note that when these are new, they don't work plug and play with the amplifiers in Audi, none of them, but I'm including the matched Line level converters so this will be plug and play for you! This corrects the speaker output levels and eliminates the ground-loop buzz/hum noise.
Extras I am including:
*Bluetooth OBD2 dongle (pairs seamlessly with HU for using Torque app and viewing or recording any/all OBD data from your car)
*GPS Fakra antenna adapter (incase your car has an OEM GPS antenna), aftermarket antenna included incase it doesnt
*Amplified Radio antenna adapter
*2pcs PAC Hi-Lo level converters
I am asking $375 for this headunit plus shipping. This price includes all the adapters I've purchased. Again, this is only a few months old, it had the highest upgrades when I got it and still is the most current available. I paid around $550 for it.
In my opinion, these headunits are well suited for those who like to tinker, like myself. This HU does work well, essentially plug and play but it is essentially a rooted android device...
For those of you familiar with these, this is a HuiFei KGL1 unit with the RK3188 quadcore processor with 16GB internal.
This unit is still the latest greatest with quad core and 16GB internal memory, plus SD slots and USB inputs. Im also running Slacker radio on it with cashed/offline music as well as Amazon PRIME music. I did have to create a directory association to get these to work and will provide the simple instruction of how that was done. It has the HD 1024 screen on it as well
I've already upgraded the microprocessor firmware and have an updated and rooted ROM by Malaysk installed. It runs smooth without issue.
It has the CAN interface and I'll include the Bluetooth OBDII adapter so you will have TORQUE PRO which is an awesome tool in itself. In some ways this is even better than VAGCOM, you have killer on screen customizable displays for realtime data of just about every parameter on you car like Boost pressure, Mass air flow, oxygen sensor, injection stats, RPM, and GPS including altitude/speed... You can read and reset fault codes or record data files. About the only thing it doesn't do is allow you to set controller codes or readiness codes like vagcom so you cant use it for things like whether or not your doors lock at a specific speed.
It also has steering wheel controls if your car has them (my 2006 A4 does)
My car had an RNSE in it before so this unit is all wired up for the newer Quad lock style connector although it also comes with the older style ISO adapters that cars in the pre 2006 era used. If you have a built in GPS antenna in your car, I will include the necessary adapter, if you don't, it also comes with an antenna which works great tucked in behind the dash. It has IGO maps as well as WAZE installed.
Regarding data connection, I've always used it with a wifi hotspot in the car so I get live traffic on WAZE and such although that isnt necessary, you can just update when your in proximity of a wifi connection and everything works fine offline. I will say the wifi can be a bit finiky on this, I've ordered the cable to install an external wifi antenna and will install when it arrives. I believe the current tiny internal wifi antenna attributes to the inconsistent wifi performance.
It has usb ports which you can install a cellular thumb drive modem in. You will need to research which models are compatible as I havent used this feature myself. It also has micro SD slots, Im running a 64GB card with all my MP3's on it now.
Bluetooth connectivity works well but please note that none these units have good streaming BT audio quality, they use a crappy BT chipset which is not up-gradable and as far as I know all these units are still using this same chipset. It does stream music but I keep the volume down because it sounds over compressed.
This headunit works well and is a neat upgrade. I've enjoyed it but my family (wife and daughters) don't get along with the Android technology so well so I'm going back to vanilla/original.
