    Question about tire pressure

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My tires are Pirelli's 275/45R 20 110 H the front tires require 44 psi and 49 psi in the back. I got a low pressure warning 3 weeks ago and when I check it my PSI's were in the 30's which is grossly under what he manufacture recommends. Hubby thinks that the dealership lowered the PSI for a better ride since he finds it hard to believe that the tires could lose that much air in all tires in the time we have taken delivery of the car which was about 6 weeks of ownership at that time 2015 PP Q7. My question to you all is are you all running the tires at the recommended PSI or are you running it with a bit less? This is the first time I have ever owned an Audi prior to this we owned a GX 470 and of course the ride was totally different. We also had air suspension on the Lexus that we don't have on the Audi. Love the car but it is a totally different ride. Any thoughts on this?

On the 21" set up I was going with 49psi all around w/ nitrogen filled tires. dealer claims Audi changed it's settings to 31/34 which is way too low especially for a full load. I use 48psi all around currently and have not had any issues or complaints when driving in comfort mode. In dynamic mode the ride is a bit more harsh.

Wow! 49 psi is very high. I have a 2015 Q7 on 21" and set my tires at 36 psi front and 35 psi rear. These are settings under normal load directly from the owners manual. There is a big section on tires. 42 is for full load or towing.

I run mine 42/44 and that seems to give perfectly flat tyre wear, ride can be a little firm in dynamic but mine is lowered (air).

We have 20" and it states 44/49 we did not get the air ride, maybe we should of. I'm going to go down to 42/44 and see how the ride is. I really don't load it up and most of the time it's only the two of us in the car. My boys pretty much want to drive their own cars when we go anywhere. This is my car, my hubby drives an F250 4x4 Thanks for all the advice and opinions.

gotcha. adaptive suspension makes all the difference but under-inflated (which 42/44 would not be) is more dangerous than over-inflated. just be careful about going too low. 30's i would not consider at all. the vehicle is too tall and heavy and you risk blow out and or loss of control.

This is what had me a bit perplexed because dealership had the tires set in the 30's. Still getting use to this coming from my gx470 loved that truck it had everything including the air suspension. It also had awd and 4 wheel drive. The truck was a bear in the snow. Not sure how this will be in bad weather. There are some things that my Lexus had 8 years ago that the new Audi doesn't have but on the whole I getting use to it. The Lexus was the longest we ever held on to a truck. I loved it that much but hated the new gx460. How we ended up with the Audi. Loved the look of it.

These are the things that I found to be different so far, not a bad thing just different.

Front and side glass was treated (this was fantastic since I swear it kept the glass cleaner longer and the rain just sleeted off. I'm also seeing a refection on the glass from the dash.
I think the stereo system was a bit better on the Lexus
I had Lexus Link in the truck (I liked the Lexus link because it found the truck right away when it was stolen and before much damage could occur I had the truck back within an hour.
the ride was a bit smoother
    More head room
It was fantastic in the snow and off road. Not that I need the off road too much anymore but it was still nice to have.
One thing I do miss is when I removed the key on the lexus, the steering wheel would raise up and retract the seat also would slide back. With the Audi it only raises up. Not a big deal for most but I drive close to the wheel and low on my lap.
With the Lexus you could not lock your keys in the truck. The truck would lock but unlock the drivers side if the key was inside.
Hate where the cup holders are in the front!!!!

Like I said not really big things just different. Don't get me wrong I'm loving how the Audi handles. I bought the Premium Plus with the winter pkg. I also got the towing pkg 20" rims. I could have waited for the Audi upgrade but I really didn't like how it looked. I may be nuts but I loved the 2015 look. I also wanted the Glacier White/Cardamon interior. I have never bought off the lot but this time I had to since they stopped the ordering for 2015. I bought this Sept 2015.

I don't regret buying the Audi, I would do it again I just would have been more prepared for the differences.

Audi has a set of "comfort" tire pressure settings they recommend to the point that all the cars we pdi are set to these. They are quite a bit lower than the standard pressures and as correctly stated are NOT for a fully loaded vehicle.
