picked up a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee High Altitude (its an Overland with parts from SRT and Summit) in silver with black interior, HEMI V8, air suspension and Harman Kardon stereo. This is my first American made car and so far im very impressed with pretty much everything (gas mileage sucks but I knew that going in). If anyone is in the market for a nice SUV don't overlook the Grand Cherokee. I still have the Audi till September but im happy to have this in the driveway after the crazy winter we had last year.

Its one of the SUV's I would purchase. My friend has an Overland with the V6 Pentastar, its not the fastest thing on the road, but the car is solid to drive and feels like driving a lifted premium luxury car (which its based on an MB platform). Gr8 choice, looks bad-ass!

I was very tempted with the SRT but they werent offering much in the way of incentives and a $1100 a month lease can put you into a lot of cool(er) cars

Love these jeeps.. But when I went to lease one they told me they don't do loaners.. Then I had friends telling me that they have tranmission problems. So no loaner with tranny problems was a big no for me.

    It's beautiful though

tranny problems were with the 9 speed they used in the new regular Cherokee which they've since cleared up, the GC uses an 8 speed ZF and haven't heard of many problems

I have a 14' GC with the diesel and it's been great. No issues and if you own a business and your dealer is qualified you can get something called Business-link. It's great. Loaners if needed, first 4 oil changes included, priority service (first lift available etc). The list goes on. It's my first modern domestic and the difference post merger is obvious and well received. I wouldn't hesitate to pick up a newer GC.

new ones ? I did a lot of research on the current generation specifically the 14-15's with new transmission and there are very few big problems. I'm a member on 2 Jeep boards and the vast majority are very happy with their GC's and the big improvement in build quality, features and materials after the merger. I think Jeep has a historic stigma of unreliability but the new generations are getting pretty good

I'm not sure which model it was, I was just going by word of mouth.

Once I sat in one it was so hard to say no .
This was in the beginning of this year so it was a while back.. I'm pretty sure they got all of new bugs sorted out.

Regardless man congrats on jeep. Long Island winters are going to be fun lol

Nice SUV, our 2014 GCG V6 Limited has been flawless and it is truly amazing in snow and inclement weather.

Any reason for not just buying a set of winter wheels/tires, and then selling them before turning in the S4? The S4 is pretty much made for the snow!

I have a set of winter rubber on my peelers, the winter last out here was beyond a low car like the S4's abilities, plus the deal I was offered made it worth carrying two leases for a bit and I need more room for kids, stuff etc

Very nice, congrats. We had a 2012 GC for 3 years and didn't have a single problem with it. I'm considering another one soon.

The WK2 was developed when Chrysler was owned by Daimler, so it shares a lot of parts with the Mercedes ML. It's probably the best vehicle to come out of that relationship.

The whole FCA group is at the bottom of the reliability ratings in consumer reports. The 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee is listed as the 8th least reliable vehicle you can buy. There have been 3 recalls on it just in 2015. Most of the issues are electrical from what I have read. My bosses GC has been sent back several times for electrical issues. My other coworkers has been sent back for the car intermittently shutting off while driving....pretty safe haha.

Congrats on the new car! Lets see some pictures of the interior.

Also in regards to the other comments; Audi has had a reputation for poor reliability and maintenance costs, but I've never experienced this. It's true Jeep does not have a good ranking in reliability, but you might not be affected. So rest easy, if it accomplishes your tasks and you take care of it I'm sure it will be a great SUV.

In the end, buy what you like and use your warranty haha. Lots of people know the new jeeps arent reliable but are still getting them because they look awesome. I'm going to do that with the new Cayman. It is considered the least reliable Porsche according to consumer reports but I love it.

That's why u lease them vs buy them. Get rid of them after 36 months and before major issues

OP congrats on the new car

Guess I'm rolling the dice then, the thing looks, drives and feel very solid, the recalls were for some sort of rear suspension part and a software update for that uconnect hack that let people take over your car, didn't see anything about vehicles not turning off but I'm sure it's happened, they make like hundreds of thousands of them a year so I'm sure theres some out there with crazy shit going on. If you looks around though consumers are happy with them and maybe I'll luck out and get the one non lemon out of the group

We have an 2011 GC with 90k miles and have had very few problems and nothing serious. If I had bought my S4 new and had to deal with water pumps, oil consumption etc I'd say the Jeep was way more reliable :) Luckily I let the guy who leased my car before me deal with those!

If anyone is in the market for a nice SUV don't overlook the Grand Cherokee. I still have the Audi till September but im happy to have this in the driveway after the crazy winter we had last year.

I drive a '14 Jeep GC limited diesel almost every day and it's a great car for the money IMO. Good pick up.

i bought a 2012 in 11/14 with 37k miles for 23k. Has oem remote start, leather, sunroof, Nav, push button start. Put a leveling kit, side bars, wheels and tires and a roof rack on it. Only costs $362 a month (loan). Now has 55k miles and has not given me one problem. It's a beast in the snow and I take it on the beach. My fiancé drives it daily. Great truck.

No, Audi is ranked near the top for reliability. That's why I bought one.

Audi hasn't always been ranked near the top for reliability and it sometimes seem that every other person has a horror story (but not me, only great things about Audi). My point wasn't so much about reliability of Audi, but more to help change the tune of the thread because I'm sure the OP will have a great time and best of luck in their newly purchased SUV :).

Had a 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited that lasted 5 months before it had a problem that no one at Jeep or Chrysler could figure out so they bought it back and now i'm back in an Audi. I hope you have better luck. Great looking cars, just confirmed my suspicions about American made vehicles.

Considering an SRT8 when I need more room. Although I will be honest I heard some of them have real issues with the transfer case holding the power.

That's too bad. I only had one issue and it was the cats. It was a recall and the current ones have had no issues. But this was for the diesel. My only gripe is they still haven't offered a maintenance program for the Diesel.

i often wish I had gone with a GC like i originally wanted instead of the wrangler I bought before my s4... i'd probably still have it. The new ones are so good looking and refined compared to previous years.

The new ones are definitely better than the previous generation.

I had a limited hemi previous generation, and the damn thing would shut off randomly when shifting from reverse to drive. Made for some harry reverses onto roads with some traffic.

In general, however, I would still lean towards leasing these cars.
