Fastest Audi Exclusive Order? (2016 S6)

I wanted to start sharing my experience and more of my excitement with other forum members. Audi owner since '08, "dream car" was once a B5, but insurance was cost prohibitive so I settled for a B7 A4 (sold). The addiction didn't stop there; I've added a Q7, A6 (sold), and the incoming S6.

Here is my order thread - no not a build or mod thread. Sorry folks. I was undecided on color (between Daytona, Sepang, and misano); all great colors. Toured a dealership with the colors in stock and left having decided on Sepang. However there was a different color on the lot that caught my eye and I couldn't shake it - so an Audi Exclusive color it is.

I built this car with the emphasis on features that were important to me, unfortunately I couldn't justify all the available options, but I don't feel I've compromised on my new car. At first I was skeptical and disappointed that I would have to forgo the diamond stitching because it looks so great, but after seeing other forum members with the comfort package I'm at ease. The comfort package still looks sporty enough and it keeps with the exclusive and elite design Audi was going for with the S6.

I'll keep this thread updated and once I pick the car up (if I ever stop driving it) you can bet the pictures will be posted here first thing. Also in regards to the thread title; I've been tracking other builds and even stock options seemed to be tracking at about 4 months when coming directly from the factory. I was quoted 4-6 months when the order was placed, and then Mid-Late February on 11/04/15. I read that estimated times between Emden & Houston are about 10 days if this is true my car might enter the US in December. I suspect this would make it the fastest C7 exclusive order (based on searches in this forum).

I am one of us who likes darker green cars. I approve of this, and am looking forward to the pictures to come. My grandfather had a similar green MG before the red one, my dad had a similar green xjs, and my step dad has a similar green z3. Green is underrated. Congrats!

Thanks! I really liked how the color looked on the lot, but the pictures I've seen just don't do it justice. I'm excited to share the pictures once I get them.

I found the shipping schedule for VW logistics 2015. I'm guessing that my car would be arriving in Houston on January 4th (based on the schedule).

I actually like goodwood green. Looks a little odd with big red tail lights, but definitely an improvement with the newer smoked tails on the 2016.

Thanks! I agree about the tail lights they will definitely look better smoked with the green.

I chose the black comfort seats. The car I saw on the lot had the flint grey interior, but I don't like how light the entire interior gets. Contrasting colors on the seats and door panels looks great, but changing the underside of the dash and having light colored carpet just isn't my thing.

On a more serious note, what options on the 2016 Audi S6 are port installed? How long was your stay at the US port? Dealer gave me an estimate that the car will hit Fargo in 3 weeks -- seems pretty conservative of an estimate.

My best guesstimate is that my S7 is very close to San Diego, if not already in port.

I hear it takes 2 weeks from port to Northern California so expecting a call 3rd week of Jan from the dealer.

When did you get your "euro port" email? I posted VW logistics schedule in a previous post. You can use that post to identify your ship (depending on when u got your email). Also you can call the dealer and they can confirm if it has landed in the US. Sadly I've had to go it alone since my dealer is a bit inexperienced with order tracking.

If your time tables are right you will beat me for sure. I'll likely be in NYC when mine comes in, delaying me another week :(.

I did look at your posted logistics schedule and believe my ship was listed on the page prior to your posting. My ship number is not listed- 418 but thanks for the heads up anyway.

My dealer has not been very helpful as well.............see a pattern here?

No mods planned, I'm too scared of negatively impacting the car. I had a lot of bad luck with aftermarket work on my A4, and it has scared me away from letting people work on my car. What about you, what is your S7 build?

Truth be told I really like the sales/finance team at Fargo Audi, but they are a really small dealership and don't handle many special cases and they don't take many builds. Just stock/dealer trades and what is on the lot. This will be my second car in as many years with them so they are very accommodating and require little to no haggling for a good deal.

Driving the car from the dealer straight to get Opti-Coat, Xpel the front half of the car plus window tint. 4 days later over to the after market guys for APR tune, replace S7 grill with OEM RS7 grill, replace the orange and red corner markers with painted panels, lower with H and R module, add wheel spacers, paint calipers (red) rebadge them and drill rotors. All of this will take another week, so after I get the car I'm still 10-14 days from pulling it in the garage.

Once in the garage, I will do half a dozen VAG-COM changes.

Then pull up a chair and marvel at it!!

What color did you order?

There are some aesthetic changes I want to make but I need to think more about them.

1) Window Tint, the law here is 50% which is almost nothing, and window tint in my area starts at $500, it hardly seems worth it. I really want 35% on the sides and back, but MHP give me no breaks.
2) Ecode headlights (get rid of the orange), again is it worth the cost to me? Not sure, but I love the way they look. I also wonder if the MHP will give me shit for that too.
3) Custom mirror housing, I would like to do a carbon fiber mirror housing, with a dark green thread weaved in (Similar to the arras twill, but green not red).
4) RS6 grill, but wouldn't want to put the plate back on... MHP would definitely pick me up for that.

^^ How are you tracking the ship? I was told that my car was completed on 1/5/16 and it's on its way to the European port. Thanks.

I had to guess a little bit, but I ended up guessing correctly.

1) The build sheet the dealer submitted showed that my car would have a US port of Houston.
2) Once I received the e-mail my car was "headed to euro port" I assumed it arrived at port the same day I received the e-mail.
3) I went to http://www.pwl.de/en/services/liner/roro?subcat=693 and got the schedule for VW logistics for the port of Emden
4) I found the first ship leaving Emden with a destination of Houston was leaving about 10 days after my car arrived at port. I figured it would be safe to assume given factory output numbers I'd be on the next ship (unless all the 2017 Q7s get me pushed to the next boat)
5) I started tracking "Adriatic Highway" using vesselfinder.com & marinetracker.com sometimes one of the sites were out of date when compared to the other.
6) Once the ship hit houston, I waited 24 hours and then asked my dealer to confirm the current location - my dealer was never able to tell me which ship or anything else - they were useless in this.

Since you are in Arizona I would guess your port is San Diego (jstrebel tracked his S7 through San Diego and I believe he is in Arizona as well). So I think it is a safe bet that your car will be on "Poseidon Leader" arriving February 12th if your car is in Emden, Germany.

I didn't know the exact cost I was thinking it would have been somewhere around $3,000. But no way will I be doing it at that price.

The S6 arrived at the dealer today (1/13/2016), and I rolled off the lot with it at about 10pm. So the total time for an Audi Exclusive order from Germany to my garage was 93 days. Now what you all have been waiting for... pictures!

After I ordered I spent copious amounts of time googling green Audi's, came across yours - fantastic looking car. I've considered getting the Xpel stealth wrap and going matte/semi-matte, but I need to let the dust settle with this purchase before I go do anything like that. I need to get some winter tires on this thing ASAP :D.

Not an expert but I would say this is the closest mixture Audi has to a British Racing Green, but I would also say it is not a classical British Racing Green (IMO). The color has a lot of depth to it, and changes significantly with the light, when it isn't flooded with light in the showroom it is much darker like BRG on a Jag, but when light shines on it, it becomes much lighter of a color. It is so difficult to capture in pictures - also this color mixture seems improved from the Goodwood Green circa 2004 (old A4/S4 options).

I'm also very jealous of how quickly you got this. I've been keeping up with the thread and it looks like we both got our "on its way to the docks" mails at about the same time, but my non-exclusive order didn't make it onto the boat until 12/30 :( Looks like it'll get to Houston around the 20th, and hopefully it doesn't take too much longer to travel to Seattle than to Minnesota.

There is a '16 A6 with same color in Minneapolis, but their interior is the flint grey w/ wood insert configuration. I saw it on the lot when I was checking out Sepang in person and because of that car I ordered this color. My interior is black w/ layered inserts (interior pics will come later).

On the weather - scariest drive of my life. This is the most expensive car I've ever owned, the most powerful car I've ever owned, and it was a bit squirrelly getting on the highway in Fargo - roads were damp from the warm day and then started freezing. Tires are ordered and will be mounted as soon as they arrive and it is safe again to travel to shop.
