    Water in Trunk Lid

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    So,
We are having some serious rain down here in SF.
To make a long story short, I noticed water in my trunk lid.
I Took out my wet vac and started to suck water out of the lid by removing the two plugs located on the bottom of the trunk lid.
I did some search, an most of them are related to the two inner tail lights.
Has anyone come accros this yet?
    History:
I have some aftermarket LED tails that I had bought from someone on here.( I added the gaskets from the oem tails I had sourced out a while back) I did add some sealant on there, but I guess that didn't do the trick.
Any easy fix to this before I go through the buying process?

Any input is more then welcome.

Here are some links I found.

You can see some silicone there for a quick fix, but it didn't help.

It was raining, so I added the two picture showing the rubber plugs I pulled to vacuum out the water.

If it's coming in through the lights, I would almost just take them out and clear all of the silicone out. All of the tail lights I've used sit flush without using silicone and don't cause leaks..

That's my plan, but it's still raining here.

I have the same issue. I have some after market tail lights and when it rains hard I get water in the trunk lid. Easy fix is some sealant behind the lights and it deals it up.

Which lights do you guys run? How to check to see if we have water inside your trunk without taking anything apart?

I had bought a set of aftermarket Tails from a member and after some heavy rain, I noticed it when I opened the trunk.
You can hear the water inside. Just shake your trunk lid. I haven't fixed it yet, but hopefully soon.

So, I found the culprit to my trunk lid!
Here is a picture of the seal I added.

I had someone spray water while I was in the trunk. The water is coming from two screw a shop used to install my spoiler. And, they did some cutting in my trunk. I will head over there soon for a fix. To think they are a body shop.
It's a good thing I ripped the trunk lid liner out.

    Just an update here,
The two screws were sealed, and since we had a downpour today no water was found.
