    HI I'm Michael.

Had my audi a4 07 for a year and a half now, 30k miles since i got it (had around 100k when I got it).

Been trying to search around for some easy ways to boost performance but most of what I see is going over my head. Can someone give me some advice on some simple value added mods or point me to some good threads.

I had to look up that it was a B7 before I could even post that if it gives you any idea on my knowledge level...

    Thanks!

The most bang for your buck is a software tune and requires no other mods and may satisfy your power needs with just that. Search for jhm, Apr, GIAC, revo.

I'll second a good tune. Make sure the failure parts are replaced first, and that you have a strong base to build on. (Cam follower, diverter valve, carbon clean, etc.) most tuners will allow you more than one tune for the price of one, so you can switch it with your mods, as you build.

I have recently moved to a JHM tune from another unnamed tune and couldn't be happier.

    I hope this helps

+2 on that! Make sure everything is fixed BEFORE the tune. Can't be happier with JHM stage 2

    Fixed? You mean preventive maintenance?

If you scan with vag-com and found some issues You may want to fix it before the tune. Preventive maintenance is also recommended.
I did cam follower, cam chain, thermostat, timing belt and some other stuff before the tune.
You have 130k mile? What was done on maintenance already?
A tune is the best bang for the buck.
A High flow cat may also help a little too.

Honestly I don't know what I should be doing past changing the oil/filter and checking the fluids, just over 135k

    All tunes gonna run ~$600?

    Welcome to the board!

Start with calling Audi of America and give them your vin#. Ask them to tell you if there are any open recalls or warranty extensions.

Have your cam follower checked and replaced. Then have it checked regularly at every other other oil change. Its a quick job for a shop to do and shouldn't cost you more that $100. (or do it yourself for $20 and 15 mins) Trust us this is very important to stay on top of.

Cam chain and tensioner - get that checked for slack and get it replaced if necessary. The engine will tick a little louder when the chain gets slack in it. This is another piece that can break and cause your valves to be introduced to your pistons. Again, not something you want to take a chance with.

Coolant flange - This part will most likely fail so keep an eye out for any coolant leaks or smells.

Window regulators - If you've owned an Audi before then you already know. If this is your first one, be prepared to replace them at some point. Telltale sign is a window that gets stuck either while going up or down accompanied with a horrible grinding noise.

Im sure theres more I'm forgetting but this should get you started for the time being. Preventive maintenance is key on these cars.

Really great advice above. Also, look into UM software. Info here.

Appreciate the advice, gonna either check some of that myself, or get a shop to (I have a repair manual, and there's always you tube).

Being a new b7 owner as well, what is the interval to change the cam chain and tensioner?
