Had it before. Definitely more aggressive than an APR tune.

Any drivability issues? Did you enjoy the tune?

Yea I enjoyed it, I'm still running one of their tunes currently. If anything it's more refined than the old APR software. More power too.

Yeah, that's what I've been told, guy I work with works part time at AMD, so I just wanted some other opinions.
I'm also curious about longevity versus APR. I plan to swap turbos eventually but don't want an aggressive tune to destroy them sooner than I hope.. Did it boost to 16psi? Or more?

Who do you know that works there?

I honestly had no issues with it, but I also pulled my k03's off after about a year of having the tune. My original k03's are still fine, just sitting in my garage for the past 4 years. I can't remember what the peak PSI was but nothing crazy.

His name is Zach, has a green and a silver URS6

Yeah? It shouldn't be an issue. I guess I'll head in next weekend for the tune

So would you say this tune is worth the 500 dollars over the APR that I already have?

That's up to you to decide what $500 is worth. It does code out egt and rear o2's so you could potentially save $500-700 in the long run.

Hardly. I wouldn't doubt that the AMD tune is more refined & could offer some more ponies. But I'm going to assume, like most B5 S4 owners (including myself!), you probably have at least $500 in maintenance and repairs that you should get taken care of first.

If your car is up to snuff, then save up some more money and give this guy a call: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pts/5352602589.html

Then give AMD a call :)

Well, I decided not to get the tune yesterday. It's probably not worth it to get another stage 1 tune, 500 bucks is about 1/4 the cost of a turbo upgrade. Funny thing is I had planned to go Friday after I got home in the morning.. Got home started the car up, and had a cel for misfire on all cylinders.. Got that all sorted though.

And thank you sir for that link! But now I want to spend way more than just 500 dollars..

I'd agree with this. Is the AMD stage1/2 a good tune? Yes it is, but at the end of the day it's still a k03 tune and you can really only push those so hard. The only real reason to make the switch would be to cut costs else where, like EGT's coded out or rear o2's to pass emissions.

Maintenance should always be done first. I need to replace that damned center support bearing, it's making lovely clunky sounds and drivetrain movement, however the idea of laying on cold wet concrete doesn't sound appealing to me at the moment. Probably going to push that one off till spring.

When it comes time to go bigger turbo definitely run one of their tunes. You're fortunate enough to have one of the best Audi tuners in the country practically in your backyard. Take advantage of that. Many people want AMD tunes in other parts of the country, however Jason doesn't like to remote tune cars as there are some tuners out that would love to copy his files.

Before you spend a lot of $$ on a tune via APR or whomever, take a look at a self-tune. There's a ton available out there via open share.

Jason is a busy guy to say the least, which doesn't surprise me as he knows what he is doing.

He has a range of cool projects in the shop to drool over too. Nice guy to chat with in person. His business model is a little different than most, which makes getting ahold of him a bit tricky. He has the tools and knowledge to go big, but internet drama from people who tend to band wagon jump make that increased exposure look less desirable for him. Besides hes got more than enough work lined up to keep him busy through 2020 lol
