Getting the winter wheels setup...(powder coating OEM 20's)

Looking forward to getting some winter wheels and tires on, and had an extra set of the 20" OEM wheels. With them being nice and bright, I wanted to go with something darker to hide more of the dirt/junk that comes with the winter months (even here in Seattle), and to just try a slightly different look.

Did a lot of back and forth between gun metal or other finishes, but went with 60% gloss black. I think it'll fit really well combining aspects of the black windows, grill, and other parts, along with the matte finish. Very excited to get my new Blizzak LM-32's mounted on them this weekend and get 'em on the car. Will post some pics when all done.

Just got 'em back from powder coating today :)

Very nice. Getting ready to sell mine and was debating freshening them up with a DIY paint guide that I have around here somewhere. Probably go with something close to the factory silver, but that looks pretty clean. What does it cost to powdercoat a set of 20's these days?

I'm getting a set done next week some time. Color will be anthracite. Mine have to be striped though as someone painted them before I bought them but for all 4 it's $300 with shot blasting included.

I expected about 400 but when he said $300 I was like ok. I have to custom order my color though as its not a color their suppliers stock so I found it at another powercoat supplier.

Starting with leaving them as is and will see what I think from there. Should have these mounted in the next two days and will post pics.

Mounted and on the car. I love the look.
Center caps: definitely not going to be the matching OEM ones...just looks goofy. Might go with the standard center caps, but see if I can paint the centers black while keeping the rings and outside ring silver. For now - she rolls without caps ;)





Still deciding, too, if I like the shiny lug bolts or whether I want to black those out. I think silver lug bolts, with the small center caps painted black except for the rings and outer circle will be what I settle on.

Easiest solution might be to plasti-dip them. Reversible if you don't like the look.

Thought about and went with blacking out the OEM caps with some semi gloss engine paint I had laying around. Liking it.

Disassemble and clean...

Mounted...


Now I just need to get spacers for the rear. Forgot that my RS4 ones have different center bore. Will probably run 10mm all the way around.

Based on everything I read on here, I went with the Disc Italia Hyper Ceramics from brakeworld.

I went with Wearever pads based on a review here. The screeching from light braking has been ridiculous. Let us know how the Disc Italia's work out for you. I'd take more dust in a heartbeat if it meant getting rid of the noise. Not sure if my installer just didn't use enough anti-noise goo or whatever that stuff is they slap on the back of pads before installing them. The Adam's Rotors look quite nice though.

I have the Disc Italia hyperceramics and love them. I also plastidip my OEM 20s for winter. It's ok (reversible/protective/etc) but for $400 I'd rather powder coat them gunmetal. Will look into that for next year.

AG M590's brother. This is one of their Stage 1 colors or whatever they call the first line of colors in their "bespoke" pricing system. Basically a metalic gunmetal. Size is 20x8.5 ET 32. Got them from Jason at GetYourWheels.
