So as my subtitle already announces, I've been lurking the forums for a few months now, having just upgraded from a 1993 UrS4 to a 2007 Daytona RS4. Plenty of solid info between here and QW, which is awesome! I picked her up from a non-enthusiast in RI, younger kid who had bit off more than he could proverbially chew. Picked it up right before Halloween, and I've loved the car! Purchased with 95k miles and a full dealership history up to 2013, I got a PPI with a couple small needs which I am currently tending to. Fully stock with the DRC recall performed and working flawlessly, but enough small details amiss that I am glad the seller decided to get out of it rather than mistreat it until it became worthless. At this point I am treating this car as a "restoration/renovation" versus an "upgrade" standpoint (for now) Though I do miss the slingshot feeling of that turbo spooling up in the old inline 5, the response of the v8 is unbelievable and it pulls so strong straight through to 8000 I cant help but giggle like an idiot. I've already replaced a failed driver's CV axle with a Raxles unit (Marty is an excellent character to do business with!) and gave her her 95k mile service with Lubro-Moly and Mahle filters. gave her a thorough detailing then sealed the paint for winter, but she will definitely be getting a proper correction, wheel repair and new clear bra this spring (I think the P.O. only used drive-through car washes, based on the clear coat condition... and he parked by feel. Those Poor wheels...) Pictures to follow once I take some good ones.

    Welcome to the fray.

I personally love the story of someone who decides to see car ownership of a guardian of a dying breed, like me. Cue the Last of the Mohicans scene!

Thanks! I got bit by the mod bug with the C4 chassis, completely rebuilt the suspension and did everything to the motor short of a block tear down and big turbo build, and while the car was a great handling, fun as hell highway monster, it ruined the slow speed daily driver mannerisms. It's nice to feel civilized again. Waiting on a new expansion tank and intake filter, then its going under the knife again. New UCA's are the big ticket item, and a bunch of smaller items to refresh the rest of the car (plugs, coil packs, expansion tank, etc...)

Welcome; I too have graduated to the RS4 world from the UrS car world. I had a slightly modified '92 S4, a stock '94 S4, a stock 95.5 UrS6 avant, and an RS'2d 95.5 UrS6 avant. Great cars.

I know I bought this car without the intent to mod, but that really didn't last. I quickly realized that the OE bulbs and DOT housings had a worse beam pattern than the euro lights on my old UrS car... which was baffling. The straw to break the camel's back was both bulbs flickering asymmetrically. I bought a couple of Osram CBI bulbs and pulled the trigger on the AFS euro lights from "Cars245" on eBay, after enough research convinced me that they are legit, unless they get damaged during shipping. Photos to follow upon getting everything and installing everything. All in all, this car is truly spectacular! really does feel like a supercar you can drive every day. It was even the designated "family truckster" lugging my parents and sibling to all the family shindigs for the holidays!

Welcome to the club! I too am the owner of a "rescue" that I'm returning to form slowly but surely. It's rewarding but makes me wonder why someone would let a car like this get into such disrepair. Have fun with it and never stop giggling, (this car feeds off of it!).

Hell yeah! I have taken the month of January off from boozing it up, to recover from too much holiday cheer, but definitely always down to GTG. My boss has a sweet shop I have carte blanche with. Only thing its missing is a 2 post lift, I love job perks.

I have to believe you're the DG RS I've seen in Salem a few times now. I have the Black Ti, w/ exhaust.

Probably, though I have seen another DG one around, and another black one around with yellow calipers! I think we chatted about JHM at a red light one time right when I first picked this up. I also had the black URs with the silver hood for years, bombing around Salem.

Welcome to the club! I've had my 07 Daytona for almost 2 years and every day that I drive it, I get a huge smile on my face - you are right, the pull through 8000 is intoxicating...

I get comments all the time ( at gas stations, / parking lots) of how much folks love the RS4. Although I have very few people trying to race on the freeway - which surprised me. When I had my M3, people were always trying to challenge the car. It's probably that most people don't know what an RS4 is and think its just another A4.

I treated my car to all of the maintenance items when I first got her too. I'm due for suspension updates now (upper control arms are starting to make some noise (85k miles).

have fun this winter. I just put my snow tires on this past weekend as this is the first time its really dipped into the 20's and 30's consistently. I love winter driving in the RS4...

The only person who tried to race on the freeway (so far) has been a Evo IX with all kinds of boy racer add-ons. I am sure the Daytona Gray is urban camouflage. Even other Audi owners have asked what I did to my A4!!! I never mind though, I bought the car for the driving experience, not to get gawked at. Enthusiasts know what it is, and those are the ones I dont mind striking a conversation with. Cant wait to install the euro lights, I have always loathed the DOT regulations for beam patterns.
