From my research thats the automatic headlight level for the xeon headlights. You need someone with a VAGCOM to re-adjust your headlights. I had this problem happen when i lost power to my car when changing the engine. Its just needs to be re-calibrated if your headlight motors still work.

this or its because the auto leveling sensors are no good on the control arms. Instead of investigating, I pulled the fuse for the levelers. Still awaiting some cheap sensors.

If it's due to you disconnecting the headlights you've gotta have the battery disconnected when unplugging the headlights or this error will pop up on the dash.

I've had the headlights in and out of my car (too) many times over the past few weeks. Never disconnected the battery. Never had this symbol pop up.

I also never turned the key or headlight switch while the headlights were removed from the car.

Then, after blue-tape on a parking garage wall shenanigans, it should be gone for good.
Ah, that's good, great, grand, wonderful.

Definitely due for aiming. I installed new ballasts and bulbs then left for the long holiday weekend. Cross country-ish, 3000 miles round trip. All with the damn lights pointed too low.

It could also be due to a bad control module for the headlights. Either way, you're going to need VCDS to fix it, and the first step will be to re-level the headlights and see if it goes away. Also, look at the code(s) from the module to see what triggered it to start with.

Yes, if you don't start the car you won't get the error.
