    Weird engine noise.

    Hello all,

I am new to this forum but am a member at ozaudi.com.

For the past few months I have had a problem with my car.
The car is a B7 2.0T Quattro, with a carbonio intake, stage 1 revo tune, revised pcv and a bsh diverter set up.
The symptoms I can describe is when I hit up to about 4000-5000rpm whether I am just revving or going through gear there is a weird noise that's like a wobbly sound. The car would run pretty average once that happens(rough idle) but it then goes away and would come back if done again.

My mechanic thinks it's a cracked engine mount but a few other people think there's no way the sound could be from a engine mount problem.

I have attached a video bellow, I'm sure people would be able to tell that there is something wrong.

You talking about that whining noise, when you leave the throttle and revs come down, right?

Do you still have the stock catalytic converter installed?

Nah not the whining noise. Put the volume up and listen to 2-4 seconds, it sounds like the engine is over revving but it's no where near red line.

    I have the stock cat.

Definitely not engine mount related...Have you boost leak tested your car? Sounds like air to me....

It's less noticeable when I put it back to stock but it is still there. I havn't boost leak tested it, what is the best way to diagnose if it's actually a leak and from where it's coming from?

Air pressure test...System should hold a certain amount of pressure IIRC...Don't know what the exact PSI is though.

As well, smoke or dye works good...
