    OIL LEAK and Weird sound? ideas?

    Cant tell based on your video where the noise is coming from, but i can tell you that last time i had that noise it was my Timing chain tensioner in the back of cylinder head.

    How many miles on the car and any maintenance done recently!

    Edit;

    As fas as the oil leak, its pretty obvious on the passenger side that's your valve cover gaskets need changing, as for the driver side the only thing can leak around that area is the gasket for the oil filter housing.

    Thank you for the info!

    I had the car not long ago at the dealership. They did said I needed a timing belt tensioner but the picture that they had on the booklet made no sense bc I was gonna buy it in my own and now that u said timing chain belt, I see that it was the tensioner from the chain itself and not the belt. They were gonna charge me 450 for it. U think that's worth it?

    Car is about to hit 95k

    If they do replace the timing chain tensioner and the chain itself for $450, thats actually a really good deal.

    Genuine Tensioner is about $145 to $165

    Timing chain itself another $140

    I would be surprised if they replace it for $450, is that including the parts or just labour..? If you have to do it yourself you will be spending close or more then $450, since you need specialty tools.

    yeah, parts and labor. and no, just the tensioner itsel. but its confusing bc the picture that they have doesnt look like a timing belt tensioner nor the belt chain... will post a pic of it soon. trying to figure out how to do it

    edit: 450 plus taxes

    Reading the partial word in the picture, that is definitely not a timing belt tensioner for B7. Although, I have no idea how a chain tensioner looks like.

    I know. That's the funny part. It doesn't even look like neither of them. I guess I should create a thread about ppl trying to identify this part lol

    If I'm not mistaken that's a part of the timing belt tensioner for a 3.0. I don't recall seeing anything like that on a 2.0, maybe a 1.8 but its been a pretty long time since I've done a timing job on one of those

    The oil filter housing gasket looks like its leaking and the valve cover gasket looks like it needs to be replaced as well.

    Do the valve cover yourself is easy. Do your spark plugs and coil packs while you're at it

    About to rodee the covers. Already got the spark plugs. No time to order the coils but I'll replace it later. As well as the timing chain tensioner.

    Also take a wet rag and brush and clean all the oil residue off. This will help you figure out if it's leaking again. Also my theory is that valve cover gasket go because there is an underlying problem related to your PCV or related items

    Thanks for the input. I did some research and that tends to be why the leaks happen. Would u recommend to replace the pcv hose too or just the valve itself?

    Valve only. But only real way of telling is by doing a leak test the hose is expensive iirc

    Your engine noise sounds pretty much normal for a 2.0 FYI...As for the oil leak, replace the following gaskets;

    1) valve cover gasket (passenger side oil leak)

    2) oil cooler gasket (driver side leak)

    3) oil filter housing gasket (driver side leak)

    Probably no more than $50 in OEM parts....But several hours of labour. For #2 and #3, I have the same issue...Search this section and you'll find previous threads about them.
