What happened to the 034 thread about their new rear sway bar?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
They introduced it in a thread on this forum a couple weeks ago, and now it's gone. And their website no longer says it fits the Q5/SQ5.

034, does your new sway bar fit the Q5/SQ5?

My end-links will be in tomorrow and I'll be installing it this weekend.
It does look like they have removed the swaybar from their SQ5 section of parts, and they've removed the Q5/SQ5 from the fitment section where they are listed. They did miss one mention of it just above, in the description.

What gives? If I go to all the trouble this weekend and it doesn't fit, I will be returning it for a full refund, including shipping. Has anyone installed one on an S/Q5 yet?

The bar we released is narrower than the stock Q5/SQ5 bar and will not fit properly. We realized this issue yesterday after a local customer came by for installation on his SQ5.

We are working on a Q5/SQ5-compatible bar and I will let you know as soon as it's ready. In the meantime, I will have Sam from our Customer Service Department contact you in order to send you a return label for the rear sway bar and set you up with a refund. I apologize for the inconvenience, and will keep you posted on the status of the rear sway bar for your car.

    Cheers,
    Laszlo
If you have purchased one for yout S/Q5, you should be expecting a similar PM.

Response from my inquiry earlier this week

"I apologize for the longer than expected delay. we made a slight change to the bar to allow for fitment on a few other applications, and it's now back in production. We should have them ready at the very end of this month.

    Cheers,
    Laszlo"

Completed final testing last week, and production has begun.

So I'd say 3 more weeks.

x2 for those of us who bought the first one, only to have to send it back, then wait 6 months for version two.
Hopefully they found the time to test fit this one to a Q

Which makes you think..... They didn't test the first one?! How is any of the data or stated benefits of the bar justifiable then? Hopes and dreams don't make a race car!

I was literally in the process of typing that same question. I'm pretty sure there should be more put into this than just dropping in something stiffer and hoping the handling dynamics are improved.

They based the geometry on the S4 bar but the SQ5 mounting points are a little longer. I have a production version on my car now. They reworked the bar to make sure it fits and works correctly on the Q/SQ platform.

My 300ish miles on it so far have been great. I don't get the front washing out like I did when it was stock. Honestly, it reminds me more of the S4 I test drove than a heavy suv. The car is insanely quick in the corners and I feel like the chassis can handle another 100hp easily. Looking forward to a stage 2 tune.

I think they had trouble finding a platform to test fit Q/SQ parts on. I only live 10 minutes from their shop so I'm working with them to get things tested and vetted for the Q/SQ platform.

Of everything I'd did for better handling, the sway is by far the biggest improvement.

Plus the consensus is we only need the rear which is half the price of the Eurocode set.

It certainly works well on my car. Thing is so much more planted and feels a lot less nose heavy.

Glad to hear it seems to be working well for you. Do you still find that it hasn't affected ride quality over rough and uneven roads? That remains my primary concern being in the northeast.

And thanks for being the guinea pig! I still think it's a little disconcerting that it wasn't at least test fitted prior to being released for sale, but I get that in reality this is a pretty small target market.

It is a small market, I'm hoping by giving them a platform to test on more parts will make it to the market.

As for the ride, I don't really notice anything harsh or uncomfortable. The car is a lot stiffer feeling, but I also got the x-brace installed at the same time.

So whats the concensus for the upgrade path for a 2016 SQ5? The front x-arm brace, rear sway bar and both the front and rear sway bar links?

X-brace, rear sway bar and end links. No need to do anything with the front sway bar, unless you want more understeer.
Then, you'll want the tranny insert, diff inserts, and of course, their bitchin' intake hose. 034 all the way baby!

    Pretty much this.

Wider tires, lighter wheels, 034 sway, xbrace, endlinks, inserts, intake hose, KW HAS, and maybe an exhaust if you want to make more noise.

At least, that's the path I've taken and it's been great. The sway and xbrace really change the car. I don't have skidpad numbers or any track times to compare with, but I feel much more confident taking on/off ramps and a ridiculous speed for a 4400lb suv. Over stock, I can take the same ramps about 15-20mph faster. Turn in feels better and I get less understeer/wash.

If an order has already been placed with Laszlo for the Q5/SQ5 sway bar then it will ship as soon as possible.

At this moment we have no plans on doing a intro price or free shipping. I recommend keeping an eye out with some of our dealers since they sometimes offer free shipping.

Thank you! Those would be our recommendation as well as the front sway bar end links.

Woot woot! I'll be ordering this through my local dealer. ☺

A question for those with first hand experience - can the sway bar be adjusted for stiffness? If so, what is the recommended position? If it makes any difference, I'll be installing these along with H&R Sport Springs with Bilstein Sports, 034 Motorsport Drivetrain Mount Inserts, 034 Motorsport F&R End Links, and 034 Motorsport Street Density Transmission Mount. I like a sporty ride that handles like it's on rails but still needs to be family friendly without feeling like riding in a civic with chopped springs.

Finally! The swaybar is ordered (again), and once again, I'll be patiently waiting for its arrival.

As of right now the only real mods left then are the X-arm brace and sway bar end links.
