    Bearing is going bad on this electric fan here on the driver side.....

    My question is, is there complete interchangibility of these 300 watt 2 pin aux. Fans? From the 260, all the way to the 45 dollar one.

    Is it dangerous to unplug this fan and drive without it? During these winter months I can't imagine it over heating easily but I am not certain..
    I attempted to unplug it, but then the outer most fan (electric one on opposing side of radiator on the passanger side) started winging like crazy so I just plugged it back in and dealt with the bad bearing noise....

    My aux fan was dead. Instead of repairing the brushes, I just bought a replacement:

    Took all of five minutes to install. No issues so far. Having both electric fans (the other one in front of the ac condenser) working properly allows them to be multi-speed whereas before the ac fan was single, high, speed.

    When you mention five minutes that seems like you did not even need to strip off the upper plastics and timing belt covers, as well as remove the low belly pan to get to the bottom.

    Where you capable of doing everything from the top?
    I believe there is only one bolt above, one below and then you can remove that whole assembly. The bearing is within that assembly itself, or is it pressed into the unit that fan sits on?

    Just the top beauty cover, nothing else (in my case). You'll need a stubby #1 phillips or a small ratchet with a #1 phillips socket. There is just one screw at the top. I spent more time dressing out the electric line than install of the fan.

    I never took apart my old fan once it was out so I can't answer your question but I'd guess the bearing is part of the metal assembly that encases the armature....and yours, based on the video, is f'ed completely. Swap in a new fan and never look back (IMO).

    I'm sorry I keep dancing around this, I feel I am not wording my question appropriately.
    The fan+housing which you posted simply inserts into the housing on the radiator.
    The bearing and fan are all one unit (unless someone disassembled it), so the new fan will resolve this issue?
    Judt by glancing at the video it makes me believe the aluminum center that the fan shaft goes into is NOT part of the fan+housing.... or maybe it is, and I'm just over thinking the hell out of it..

    Either way, the whole unit that you posted is what I'll be purchasing.

    All will become self-evident when you receive the new fan and yes it will resolve your issue. I cannot guarantee that your fans will become multi-speed again but that is what happened for me.
