    Vossen or HRE

Looking for a new set of shoes. I spoke with the folks at TagMotorsports and asked them their suggestions for the 2016 S7.

They recommended HRE FF01 in silver for my moonlight blue S7.

The tire size would be 275/35/20 on a 10.5" wide 20" rim. Offset 30

I also like the BBS CI-R 20x10 with an offset of 25 and the Vossen VFS2 20x10.5 with an offset of 35.

    Opinions please.

Those Vossens look great. Check out jstrebel's S7 in the same color. The HRE's are different imo but an equally sharp choice.

HRE would be the top choice if money is no factor because essentially you are looking at a vast price difference- about $2400 for Vossen, $3000 for the BBS and >$10k for the HRE. Here is BBS CIR on my A6

HREs. I trust them above all other wheels. I've had them on my M5 and now on my S6. They are significantly more than your other options, but I see the value and the exclusivity in them.

vossen wheels are made in Taiwan garbage, they just marketed and did the branding well. from HRE flow forms or BBS, I would get the BBS wheels. theres nothing really special about HRE's entry line of wheels.

LOL $10,000 - $12,000 custom built, 3pc forged wheels (HRE) vs $2,500 cast wheels???

Additionally, the dealer cost for Vossens cast wheels is 50% off retail... they are EXTREMELY over priced IMO. If you're looking for a nice set of custom forged wheels, I would consider looking into RSV Forged, ADV.1 (lower configurations), Vossen Forged, Avant Guarde, BLK Wheels... you know, if you want to avoid spending 10k, plus an arm & leg.

    Hi everyone, we offer three types of high quality wheel construction;

    Low Pressure Cast
    CV Line

    Flow Formed Wheels (rotary forging)
    VF/Series

    Forged Wheels
    VPS
    CG Series
    LC Series

We feel very strongly that each of our technologically sophisticated factories and processes create the among the best wheels on the market. We also have a 5 year workmanship warranty and lifetime structural warranty and unlike most companies, really stand behind it. Our "run out" tolerance is .015" but generally under .010" (the wheel roundness is within the thickness of three sheets of paper overall), I confidently say you might not own a better wheel in regards to quality construction free of vibration. We have owners of various exotic and high end cars switch to Vossen from other high end wheel brands as they know we make one of the highest quality wheels on the market today. Our Vossen Forged program continues to grow and improve as we are committed to producing what we feel are the best quality wheels on the market today. Obviously HRE has a well deserved reputation and we would never disrespect a company that has been around for multiple decades.

We also own a 2014 Audi S8 which we use for Research and Development. Currently its tuned by APR with over 650hp.

For anyone ever in the Miami area, please contact me at [email protected] to take a tour of our TUV verified Vossen Forged Factory, proudly #madeinmiami. We will proudly show you how our Vossen Forged wheels are made from start to finish as everything there is 100% in house.

We will have an updated website shortly with more information!!!!

And for those that desire their own wheel, we offer the Vossen Bespoke Design Program.

I guess I never really understood this mentality when many of the products we all own (electronics, cars, clothes etc) are made in Taiwan and Asia. The best phones I have ever owned are Apple, proudly designed in California and proudly made in China. Once the factory has great technology, tight processes and company management is serious about quality it many cases it doesn't matter where the product is made. For those that have not visited a top quality, high end factory overseas, you would be amazed at the factory and the results. Many cars are based in one country with factories all over the world. To me its always been about management, if they are serious about quality and their product they will ensure wherever it is made produces high quality results and hold people accountable that don't.

Those Forgestars do look good, but I'd be hesatant to go with 21x9's when the A7/S7 easily fits a 21x10.5 all around.. just my .02, but what do I know lol

There are several 10 spoke Forged wheels out there. I have been researching because I might make the change. Rohana RF1, Forgeline RB1, Vossen VPS310 and Velos Solo X. Also check out Vossen CVT- nice variation. I don't find any 10spoke HRE's with this symmetric pattern.

Forgeline has a nice new wheel, not sure of the model. Here they are on an S3, which of course gets no concave, but I think these would be beautiful on a new A7/S7.

Be careful with Forgestar, they crack easily! I cracked two of them and I was running a 35 series tire. If you run them as a 21" with a 30 series you're doomed!!

Yea, forgestars are "flow formed" wheels, more along the lines of cast. They are note Forged from what I understand.

TAG does some wonderful work, I'm sure they'll be more than accommodating in getting you set up. Here's a set of FF01's they put on that you might be interested in taking a look at to get a closer idea of what you would be looking at.

Very timely post! I just asked the shop I deal with for a quote on a set of liquid silver FF01's. Really helps to see them on an Audi, even if the color isn't the same.

    How perfect!

I do have photos of Liquid Silver which you see below, but I don't have any on Moonlight Blue. Good news is, you can be the first ;)

Hope that helps and make sure to post up some photos here when you can to update us!

The FF series are pretty whack, ball out and buy the real deal or save up until you can! Kinda like comparing an A6 to an S6 or a pair of entry level Nike shoes you'd buy at Kohls to a Nike Air Max, they just aren't the same. I'm a HRE whore but I'd run stock wheels before I put the lesser versions on my car.

Awesome, thanks! I think that just sold me. Tho my car is black, it makes a difference to see them on an Audi. All the pics of them in silver on your website gallery are on a Porsche.

That's great to hear! I went through the gallery again and our flickr page as well and you're right, I'm not seeing any black A7/S7/RS7's with Liquid Silver FF01's, but once you've installed your set, we can fill that gap :D
