Gunk/Sludge in oil tube connected to valve cover

I attempted to see if I could access my coolant temp sensor. Since my car been getting 9mpg, and sometimes shows the coolant temp on Cold.

Took the intake boot off, and removed and OIL hose connected to the passenger valve cover. I found gunked up oil.

Does anyone know what those hoeses are going to the VCG's? (Right under expansion tank)

And does anyone know if there is an easier way to get to the coolant temp sensor????

Heres a pic with bumper off when i did snub.

Yes. I've done some research. And it's a breather tube. (So that normal)
Still can't get to temp sensor. I can get my hand on it. But I won't be able to remove that c clamp
