Another B5 VRT Thread...the never ending project

Just to give a bit of background before I begin-my name is Brian and i've owned this car since Sept 04. Throughout the years the car has been through a lot of changes, most recently it's biggest to date. I used to be much more into the car scene, than I have been in the past few years. I got married, bought a house, and have been focusing on my career and traveling a bit more...Life just takes over sometimes I guess. The car has been put on the backburner a bit, but I haven't completely lost the passion that I once had, and I'm sure once I am able to get back behind the wheel, I will find myself reattached to this money-sucking hobby that we love so much.

While I have other threads that outline the bodywork, interior and other aspects of the car, I will spare that and just get on with the engine swap side of things that are currently going on.

here are a few shots from the last time the car was driveable. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but that's what makes it fun. Enjoy.

here it is in it's current state.

So far the specs on this are:

12v vr6 bored to 3.0L with Wiseco Pistons, IE Forged Rods, HD Valve Springs and Titanium Retainers, T67 Turbo.

All of the fabrication is being done at Nubworks Fabrication, a good friend of mine. He's doing a great job thus far.

It's been at my fabricators shop for about a year and a half. He's working on it when he has time, between the birth of his first son and his full time day job. We aren't in any real rush, but I'm happy with the progress being made. He's doing literally all of the fabrication, custom. So far he has completed the custom Motor Mounts, Intercooler piping, Intake Manifold, Turbo Manifold, etc. He will also be doing a coolant swirl pot, custom coolant lines, and downpipe and exhaust. It's getting there.

here are some pics along the way so far. Enjoy.

    on it's way to Nubworks

Few more progress pictures on the car. Nubworks is almost finished up with a bulk of the "big work" on the car, so it will be coming home to me in a week or so. At that point I will begin disassembly once again, to work on finishing up the body work in the engine bay, Bending/Flaring new brake lines, work on battery relocation, ABS relocation, and other miscellaneous things.

Here are some pictures of the Swirl Pot/Coolant Reservoir setup, Wastegate Dump Tube, Wastegate mounted up, etc.

Can't wait to get this thing back home to get back to working on it!!!

Nub dropped the car off on Saturday morning. I took the opportunity to rinse off the 2 years of dust that had accumulated before pulling it into its space in the garage. Now it will be my opportunity to work on it, before getting finished up at Nubworks at some point. The plan now is to pull the engine back out and get it checked out by Double J Motorwerks to ensure the machine work was properly done (for my own peace of mind). While that is being done I will finish the bodywork on the engine bay, re-bend/flare new brake lines for the ABS Relocate, Polish the newly fabbed components, and tie up other loose odds/ends.

Some pictures from the unloading and her new spot...need a bigger garage. 5 cars is too many.

that's all for right now. the car sits in the garage as of this past Saturday.

I will continue posting pictures along the way.

The attention to detail is exciting to see. Very nice looking build you have here. What brand are those ic piping couplers you used?

Thanks guys! I've always been a stickler about attention to detail. It's going to get even crazier from here on out. My goal is for it to be one of the cleaner vr6 swaps out there. I'm not going for the crazy high HP numbers like some of the other guys out there...rather, anything between 450-500whp would be fine with me. something FAIRLY reliable, that I can turn the key and drive, and not worry too much about breaking things.

the couplers are Linder Power Systems couplers. He's actually a guy I know from my hometown in Eastern Washington. He invented these in different sizes years ago and patented them. They weld onto each pipe and they screw together and seal with an o-ring. They're rated at something like 170psi or something ridiculous (more than you'll ever need), and also are designed to have a bit of flexibility so that the pipes can flex if need-be.

you can find his products here: https://www.facebook.com/linderpowersystems/

It's Porsche Aqua Metallic Blue. I repainted the car and changed the color when I widened out the fenders and such.
