    Looking to buy A6

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I found a 2012 A6 with 59K miles on it, but it recently had the short block replaced with a new one due. I have no Idea why, yet the sales associate is checking. The A6 has the sport suspension, the front and rear breaks have been replaced recently, as well as the tires. They are asking $28K for the A6 and are giving me $11K for my A4 with 61K miles, which im not happy about, but I really Want an A6. The A6's new engine has a 1 year 12K mile warranty, but everything else is out of warranty. Is this a good deal? The Audi Dealership is refusing to negotiate what so ever, which really doesn't give me a good feeling. Thanks for your help.

No way, not a deal at all. There are CPO A6s, meaning you still get a warranty and Audi stands behind it, and probably without engine rebuilds, available at very comparable prices in your area: http://www.audiusa.com/dealers-webap...dels/zip/19601 (make sure you click the 'Certified Pre-Owned' tab). 2013 A6, 47k miles for $28k if you're set on not spending more than that. Then there's a 2013 A6 with 35k miles for $31k (probably with some wiggle room), etc. Do more shopping and research.

It sounds to me like the dealer knows you want the A6 so they are bending you over for it.

Why are you even considering that car? That's a disaster waiting to happen. Hell, it's already happened.

    Was it a 2.0 or 3.0?

I think you could buy something that's still in warranty, with lower mileage...I agree with Hubris.

    Check your PM - thanks!

would expect a better price than that with a replacement engine. As the other posts says, you can get a CPO car for around that or a bit more.

That is a terrible deal - walk away and don't look back.

Even from a practical perspective, this A6 has only 2K less miles than your car. And you would still need to pony-up $17K after trade value to get it. Doesn't make a lick of sense to me.

It makes sense if he's bent on getting an A6, espeically if he wants it NOW - salespeople are usually pretty good at picking up on people's desire for things and playing it appropriately

I would skip that car and keep looking for others. You should be able to get one with CPO and without the horrible maintenance history for not much more.
