Speed limit exceeded - 78mph -vcds fix

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
As the title states, any time I reach 78mph I get a warning on the console Speed Limit Exceeded.
Symbol is a plain MPH, NO numbers

I have done plenty of searches regarding this issue and haven't found a solution.

    What this issue is not:

    1) Speed warning set from the dash. This warning has been enabled and canceled. The warning symbol on the cluster is a MPH1

2)Speed warning set in MMI (3G). This waning has been enabled and removed. It shows up as MPH2 on the cluster.

The vehicle is CPO, so not sure if this is a setting that can be set through vagcom. Dealer doesn't seem to have an answer. The traffic in Phoenix regularly moves @ 80 so this is quite annoying.

If it's not through the MMI I don't know. Every time I've set it, it allows me to remove it without issue.

Not here you wouldn't. The speed limit here is 75, and unless you're weaving through traffic, tailgating or going 85+, cops here don't generally waste their time with a 3 mph over ticket on the highway.

Bones, can you snap a picture of your MMI menu showing your speed sensor settings? I don't have the issue in my car, so I'm curious if your settings look the same as mine.

Hmm, yeah, that's the same as mine. Isn't there also a reset function on the wiper arm? I would maybe try to use that reset function to see if it disables this. I think you can cycle to the MPH1 and MPH2 features using one of those buttons on the wiper arm, and then reset it from there.

I had the dealership disable the feature before I took delivery, so I have no idea whether or not they had to do anything else besides set it up in MMI.

when at speed, hold down the left button on the DIS for 2 seconds. It should put a line through the warning symbol. Use the left button on the DIS, not the wiper stalk. I believe it says "SET"

I haven't had any luck with the reset button on the wiper arm. That is used for resetting the trip computers 1 & 2, and the instant MPG info.

If i use the SET button on the dash, that will enable a speed warning, but that's note #1 in my original post. I can make and clear that warning, and it shows up as MPH1 on the dash. Same with the MMI, I can make and clear that and it shows up as MPH2.

This afternoon I will try to get a picture of all 3 Alerts so you can see the difference.

Why not set the speed warning at 150.

Because it's not that speed warning that's going off, that shows up as MPH2

Here's all three images of the cluster - I have also updated the original post with pictures in attempt to weed out anyone who isn't quite paying attention to the actual issue.

    What I get

    Using SET button on cluster

Unfortunately, Mines been like this since 10/31/15. Quite a pain in the ass finding it in the vag-com codes. This was not the 2 users normally face, so hopefully in the future if anyone else has this happen there's a solution out there.

From what I recall, there are 2 separate speed warnings that can be set independently. Are they both disabled ?
