    A couple of questions about lowering springs

    I realize this has most likely been covered more than a few times on this platform, however... I'd like to lower my 13' A6, slightly, (about an inch at most). Therefore, I do want to make sure I know what my best option is. I do have the 20" wheels/sport package, so assuming that going with the H&R springs would make the most sense. My question is... can one adjust the height to their desired taste? How much increased wear and tear should I expect? (CV boots, etc), and will this effect the way the car feels over time? My other concern is that I do have a rather steep driveway that I am concerned about the car scrapping to much when I go into my garage.

    Thanks... any advise is much appreciated.

    Lowering springs lower the car a preset amount. If you want adjustability you'd need to go with a coilover system.. or air

    Edit: h&r claims their sport springs will lower the front approx. 1.4" and the rear 1.3"

    Since you have the sport suspension can you provide the height from ground to fender through vertical axis of the of the front and rear wheel. Hopefully with that info I can make a suggestion.

    As far as wear and tear caused by lowering I can not think of any additional wear and tear that would result just from lowering. I have had the KW variant 3 suspension on my A6 for a little over 2 years with about 23K miles in that 2 years and a number of track events. I just recently determined with help of KW that the rear springs that came with my kit were the wrong springs. They were 2 inches shorter than the correct springs. Even with the incorrect springs I have not had any wear issues that can be blamed on the lowering of the suspension. The car rode fine for the most part, the problem was I could not raise the rear within the range I expected. Now I can!!!! Also before I put the KW coilovers on I had the Stasis touring suspension on the car which lowered it about inch from the stock sport suspension height. I currently have about 64K+ miles on the car and can honestly say I have not seen any wear you could attribute to the suspension lowering. I personally like the way car rides, now that I have the correct rear spring, over the stock sport suspension. Yes, it is a firmer ride but under some rough road conditions I feel it handles these conditions better.

    +1 for the KW's. I recently installed the V2's on my car, FWIW there is no real noticeable difference in ride with the factory damper settings on the KW V2's and the ST Performance coilovers I traded them out with. If you're looking for good (sporty) ride quality, with adjustability, then I would recommend the ST Performance Coil-overs.
