Ebay k04's for the daily driver

OEM turbo has officially kicked the bucket at 164,000. I feel like its worth replacing and trying to get at least 20,000 more miles out of it before anything else lets go. The car is completely stock and doesn't get pushed since its my girlfriends. Is it worth me buying an ebay turbo and just taking it easy on the car? I've heard they last as long as you don't push them. I know this has probably been hashed out a bunch, but some quick yes's or no's would be great. Thanks.

Unless you do something different with your tuning a K04 will perform pretty much the same as a K03. There are some pretty good prices for various turbo options here: Clicky click® I picked up a BW K03 from here for under $600. Maybe consider the Turbo and installation kit for $312.

Yeah no tunes, car needs to go about 30 miles a day, 18 of them on the highway and obviously trips around town. I don't really want to top $300, $312 sounds alright. Im having braking issues as well. Car locks up when there even a dusting of snow on the ground. It.s actually really dangerous. After researching the issue I'm leaning towards it being something expensive like the ABS module so I'm trying to keep the cost down on this repair in preparations for what could be a big one with the ABS. I haven't exhausted every possibility yet so until I do, I always expect the worse.

I don't have any advice on the Turbo but for the ABS do some searching. I've run across it before, there is a thread about sending in your ABS module to be rebuilt for much less than buying a new one.

I had issues with my ABS and ESC lights coming on, but my issue was ultimately solved by pulling and reinstalling the fuse.

I forgot where I sent it out to but I got my ABS module rebuilt for around $100. I think Kompressed (sp?) rebuilds them also. Send him a PM.

I believe you're right that Kompressed rebuilds them. If not, there's definitely someone on the forums that does it.
