I was under the impression that the girdle was matched to the specific head? AKA, not interchangeable from head to head. Also, how is the head side of the bearing race not messed up also?

Head side is fine. It is the intake cam front journal. A small sliver splintered off maybe a mm or two and there is a small bent piece into journal. I could take it to a machine shop and have it cut down to the journal face possibly but would rather install a new one. I was not aware of the matched to the head part. Cannot see that as the case unless every head has different dimensions. The strange thing is there is no marks on the cam so the only thing I can think is it happened when I popped it off.

I cant exactly tell you how bad it is but when i bought my car at the auction it had run into oil starvation which showed similar signs of wear, but i have not had an issue with it, though i don't think mine looked that worn out.

The issue is that the cam tray and head are align bored as a pair, and swapping out cam trays may leave you with out of round bearings due to the ever so slight differences. You may be fine or the results may be catastrophic, who knows. If you get a new cam tray, you should check the dimensions at least, or have the set align honed.

I would just chamfer that edge slightly and call it a day. A quick tap with a sanding drum on a Dremel would fix it.
