I spotted the new Q7 over the weekend at my local Audi dealership... It was parked side by side with older style and man the new one looks so good!!! I didn't get a chance to test drive it, but took pics of the ext and int... They said they don't know how much the sticker price, because its not available yet for U.S. consumer and even checking the vin it wouldn't show the manufacturer price.. They said early to mid 2016 should be out... Its loaded to the wazoo with alcantara interior. Gosh!!!

The sales manager was willing to let me drive it, but the wifey was in a rush to run errands. Lol! This is the 3.0T variant.

Lol. It is nice enough. The look is only just starting to grow on me. I'm yet to see a configuration that I'd take over the current one.
This new Q7 trumps the outgoing one on technology hands down. But looks wise? Hmmm. I'm torn!

I wonder if some of these vehicles that are starting to show up in this area are for their "preview" events. I (& I'm sure many others) got invited to a big preview event in Downtown Chicago Thursday Dec 10th. Unfortunately, I can't go but my salesman will have explicit instructions to call me as soon as they get one at the dealership that I can drive

I disagree. I know there has been quite a bit of criticism over the styling but it has really grown on me. I hear what you are saying compared to the all road yet I think the technology, safety, capability, flexibility and on the road presence are a couple steps above. And it will be a much better seller for Audi and leaps better to their bottom line.

It looks so bland. I'd get the XC90 over this.

    But Haldex < Torsen.

I've been driving a new XC70 for a couple weeks. The feeling of Haldex really blows compared to quattro. Really feels FWD.

don't let the xc90 crowd see this... they will be up in arms ready to burn down your house. "it performs just as well if not better" is the most common response.
anything that was not purpose built from scratch generally does not do very well compared to something that was. a fwd system reverse-engineered into an awd system isn't as good (imo) as a system that was built to be awd from jump street.

i have one on order and i may pull the deposit. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many issues and most do not have any resolutions. some of the early adopters have been in loaners since they purchased their vehicles.

Don't me wrong, they are great cars. Mom has had 3 XC70's and my sister 2 XC90's. But if you make a 90 degree turn from a stop, the front tires will chirp. Just feels very lame compared to Torsen.

it is lame... so are audi's that use the same system. it is a fwd system augmented into an awd system.
for most people these vehicles will never see anything but paved roads and parking lots so it is more than adequate.

I would have said "Errands will wait. This test drive can't" But I understand it's easier said than done, especially with a temperamental wife.

The first part of this statement is a given. Second part, is even more so. The coupe like, sexy profile of the 1st gen or the A6 Avant station wagon profile? Come on. Easy.
