are 550cc injectors big enough for 450awhp on 93?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Was going to grab injectors on sale right now. I can get a set of ev14s for 250 shipped. Was thinking of going with solomotor sports "baby stage 3" tune once I get closer to my stage 3 build (when I actually can afford the turbos)

The baby stage 3 calls for 550cc injectors and I dont want to buy them twice so will 550cc injectors be good enough later down the road with the f21 mixed flows to get me to 450awhp? (Staying stock rods ) I will run 93 and meth if needed

Assuming ~560 crank HP + 20% drivetrain losses yields you around 450awhp (very very rough calculation, as there are tons of other factors involved).
I don't think 550cc injectors at 80% duty cycle will get you near your goal. Its called baby stage 3 for a reason :P

Most setups I've seen making into the 400's are running at least a 630cc injector @ 3 bar (correct me if im wrong).

550cc injectors at the factory 4 bar are around 630cc

I am fairly confident my car is putting down right around 450awhp currently, but I'm using 100% methanol as well.

550's are plenty on the stock regulator and k04 framed turbos.

Meth may help you get close but you're going to be pushing them. I'd just spend a bit more for 72lb so you have some head room.

Daz told me the F21 mixed flow will be maxed before the 52lb injectors will max out and I'm running 93 with 50/50 meth

I'd go larger. This is a 72# injector profile and boost, but not close to 450whp.

It would be nice to leave some headroom in the injector in case something goes badly and they need to dump fuel.

    Awesome thanks alot.

I read alot of the stage 3 tunes called for 550cc so thats why i was hoping id be ok. But Looks like I might hold off on injectors and the k03 killer tune. I'll probably use the sale to get my 044 fuel pump kit for 340 shipped instead!

You will be fine with 550's and meth. Plenty of us have that set up and make around those numbers. I made that on 92 oct and 50/50 water meth before we turned it down some.

What IDC is needed to reach 450whp with 550 injectors?

Any reason you are going the 044? You can get a Walbro 450 for around $150 on amazon. Do the pressure mod, slap some o-rings on for a drop in fit, and you will never hear it.

I just spot checked 3 points on my 2.95 log from the other day.

    ~3600 = 55%

    ~5500 = 75%

    ~6500 = 81%

That's on 550cc@4 bar, so for the sake of argument lets call them 630cc

Also keep in mind I'm running 100% methanol through 2 d07 nozzles. With these kinds of duty cycles I admit I wouldn't even be close without the methanol.

No real reason more so cause it's a direct plug n play fit. I like when when I can just install parts and not have to fudge with anything to make it work. But if it could save me that Uchida money maybe I will just go that route eventually.

Ya that seems like it would be asking for too much from 550cc injectors. That suckssss cause I was looking forward to get some 1/4 mile runs to compare to my 93 stage 2 sms tune on stock injectors.

Plus my brother is putting a bunch of work into the srt 4 this winter (including a big wheel stock turbo and e85 ;[ ) and still Wana hold up against him before I end up going stage 3 Wich might be impossible.

Get bosch 62# "298" injectors which are revised "117" 550cc injectors. Other than more flow, they are identical and tuners know how to work with them. This will get you where you need to be.

Avoid any "117" or "298" injectors that flow more than FoMoCo factory configuration (these come from Ford Corp's GT500 car) as they are drilled out and thus their atomization sucks.

    Part #s:

    0280158117
    0280158298 (Ford Part#: DR3Z-9F593-A)

Off the top of my head I want to say it was in the 80%'s. But I haven't logged in forever. Logging computer finally died.

I was going e85 but I know I have to upgrade my fuel pump first. Will 100% meth and 91 be okay instead?

Honestly you will kill your stock fuel pump regardless. Mine couldn't keep up after 2 weeks of stage 3, and that was very early, running low boost.

Before and after fuel pump change:

Daz was on it like stink on shit and caught it with 1 revision.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

What software do you use to log that info? I use vag com most of time. Don't know if I could get the a/f with vag com?

ME7Logger/Visual Logger and a zt-3 hooked to one of the rear o2's for the log.
    Ecuxplot for the graph.

    Not gonna happen with vagcom.

You log with Me7 logger with a custom .ecu and .cfg file to log Wideband AFR with the wideband wired to the drivers side rear o2 connector. It's a very useful setup.
