Are "V" rated tires OK for Audi?

I got some Blizzack snow tires last year for snowboarding trips to the local hills. I didnt end up installing them last year as our winters here in So Cal were basically non-existant!
This year it looks like they'll be needed.
I noticed that they were / are V rated---is this OK for our cars? Im not sure what my old ones were---letter rating wise--I dont remember them being a V though?
What letter can "we go down to" to be safe?

Also, these seem like a softer rubber compound than the others I had. Might this be due to a different rating system?

V rated tires can sustain speeds up to 149 mph. Z rated tires can sustain speeds 149 mph and higher. Blizzacks are snow tires with soft rubber compounds made for traction in snow and ice that are V rated. Unless your ing above 149 mph in the snow and ice, youll be with the V rated Blizzacks

Ok that's what I figured--the tires I bought from a lady came off a significantly less powerful and less handling car----just checking.
Makes sense after I read about it.

What you do want to be careful with is the two digits beside the v. That is the load rating. Our oem tires are 94. You can usually stray a bit in either direction but keep that in mind.

Another tidbit of info that a lot of people don't know is that tires have production dates on them.

All regular B7s(2.0T & 3.2) are spec'd for standard load tires(94) while S4s require extra load rated tires(97 or higher). You can put extra load tires on any B7 but you shouldn't put standard load tires on an S4.

You always want to check the production date prior to buying used tires. I actually like to check new tires as well. They're good for ~6 years IIRC. The rubber will deteriorate.

Yes V rated tires are OK...In fact, they are the "average" I would say.

I made the mistake of buying H rated summer tires Not end of the world but it basically means I can drive faster on my 17" winter tires (V rated) than my 18" summer tires...

So even though my car can go faster than 210km/h, my tires are the weakest link
