Hi all, I wandered if anyone could shed any light or give me any suggestions as to what to try next with my unhappy allroad 2.5tdi that keeps stalling? It starts and runs smooth at idle with no issues but after about 5 mins idle just suddenly stalls. When I try to start it up again it won't start for more than a few seconds. If I leave it for a few hours it will start and idle for 5 mins plus before stalling. It revs ok and when I put the engine under load it seams ok but only for short periods before stalling again.
I have checked lifter pump in tank is working and seems fine. Changed fuel filter and self lead valve that connects return lines to filter. I have meticulously bled the fuel system several times using a vacuum pump according to the vw/Audi guidelines. Clear fuel pipe remains full with no bubbles. So I don't think its a fuel issue? I wandered if it maybe the EGR Valve so took that off the other day and stripped/cleaned it plus tested it opened and closed using a vacuum pump which it did. When I got it all assembled it fired up and seemed to work fix so I let it idle and warm up for 15mins or so. I felt confident that the problem was solved so I took it round the block for a spin and it seemed to work fine. I then booked it in for an MOT the next day thinking I was in the clear. As I drove down to the MOT stain about 2 miles away it conked out and stalled after about a mile. this time it wouldn't restart so had to tow it home. Ran my code reader and got no error codes? Im pulling my hair out over this one can anyone please help????
