I have been using this forum to help narrow down my buying decision for months now and I am happy to say I am now the owner of an A7! Absolutely love the car. Would like feedback on the deal I got as I thought it was a pretty killer deal!!
I picked up a 2014 Audi A7 from an Audi dealer in Virginia. Car is in immaculate condition! The paint has no scars scratches dents or dings. The seats are practically in brand new condition. Rear seats don't even look sat in. No scuffs on the door sills, mechanical and electronic all are in great condition. If the car was wrapped in new car "plastics" lol and you didn't see the odometer you would think it was a new car.. and maybe add a new car smell freshener
I have been trying to nail down if i wanted the A6 A7 or the A8. I know.. three different leagues but all feasible reasons for entertaining such different cars. Basically it came down to I love the interior of the A8 the prestige of it with the alcantara, the ambient lighting pano moonroof, LEDS and it does not drive like the size car it is, very nimble but at the end of the day its still a massive car and I was not comfortable in it... A6 basically a very sharp and nice car, but in comparison to the a7 it is a bit boring in style even with aggressive mods. A7 the issue was somedays i loved the look and other days I would see one without tints and at the wrong angle and i felt like the car was ugly and too hatchback looking. I then realized the car is sexy, I love the drive and with tints and proper wheels this beast is the best looking audi!
OK......
Here is the deal I got:
2014 Havanna black M. Audi a7 Prestige
38,000 Miles( Mostly highway)
Packages:
Bang and Olufsen Sound System
Driver Assistance
Innovation Package
Full Led Headlights
Cold Weather
Power soft closing doors
metallic paint
upgraded 20 inch sport package
Basically this car is as loaded as the A7 comes which was a killer steal for me. Car sticker for 84k I got the car for 46 after some very aggressive end of the month/year pricing from the dealer. I feel for this car I got a hell of a deal, thoughts???
Here is my initial review on the car, mind you I drove 2.5 hours to Virginia to pick up this amazing car. So i have put about 140 miles on the car.
Initial Take aways:
The driver assistance package wasn't a must but it had it and I am happy with it.
Like: Adaptive cruise control, Bling spot monitoring
Can do with or without: HUD
Cant decide how I feel: ACTIVE lane departure. I do feel that it is a bit strong, I don't know if intrusive is the word I want to use but it definitely is more than a gentle nudge, in my opinion...will take some getting used to. I love the idea behind it but not the feel.
Worthless: Night Vision
Basically everything else I love. The sports package and dynamic mode for the drive definitely IMO makes this a whole different car. Ive test drove new one without sports package and even in dynamic I feel the steering is too luxurious and not tight as some others have said as well. I love the sports package.
Now onto the often talked about Bang and Olufsen sound system. I laugh when I read these forums because you have a great deal of folks who say it is down right horrible and some who say it is a great system for a car. Here is my short take on it.
If you but a used car and it has it you will be fine and enjoy the system. If your optioning up a lease or new car to buy absolutely DO NOT SPEND YOUR 6K ON IT. It is not worth the price and it will certainly depend on your type of music. But the people who say that it is down right terrible, I feel are over exaggerating. The tweeters did tend to pop at some songs but I am still working on tuning it right. It sounds best on HD radio and believe it or not.....Heavy bass low treble songs. Bluetooth music playback was not all that impressive but i was BLOWN away by HD radio and radio clarity and depth. I am anxious to get the new MMI cord to fit the iPhone 5 since audi still thinks folks have iPhone 4's or something!! Bottom line if the car is used and has the system get it, if optioning new, don't think twice about getting it, pass!
Driving, theres not much to say...ample power excellent handling. I am not an enthusiast per say, so the complaints about not much steering feedback I can't comment to much on. I will say I am used to VW hydraulic belt driven steering and this new computerized electric whatever steering is a big change in feel for me, so it does feel a tad more artificial, but not as bad as the new hyundai genesis steering.......
Ok I am tired and just got back from the dealer but I was so excited to share so I will share more once rested...
As we all know car buying you spend the most time in finance and that is headache city! Look forward to feed back on the review and the deal that I got.
Also if anyone can tell me the difference between lane assist and side assist(both listed on sticker) that would be awesome.
