    audi vs other choices

as a new and first time owner of an RS7, I was wondering how/why other audi owners chose audi over panamera, e63, cts-v,m5?
if you have owned any of the others, how would you relate the reliability and build quality of your audi to the others?

I just came from a S63 which was an excellent car but finally proved larger than I wanted; only had RS7 couple of weeks but exceptionally pleased in all respects so far. this is a varied and interesting group and just wanted to hear some of your opinions and thoughts.

Panamera Turbo ~ Ugly ass, period.
E63/CLS63 ~ At the very end of product lifecycle plus MB Command System in the E/CLS Class is lame.
CTS-V ~ As a luxury car, the current day Caddy's in general aren't quite in the same league as German counterparts.
M5/M6 ~ My 2nd choice to RS7 but at the end of the day I prefer AWD over RWD in the car with that much power.

Pananmera - ugly, engine wasn't as powerful feeling, ugly
e63 - horrible infotainment, also ugly IMO compared to RS7
CTS - lol not in same league
m5/m6 - great but RWD in houston weather (rain hail and hellish sun all in one day) is not ideal with that much power, and the m6 specced how i want was much more money, rs is rarer here as well

Panamera : it's everywhere where I live, UGLY.

E63 : I don't like how it looks at all reminded me of Japanese cars.

CLS63 : is my second choice, IMO this car is real competitor to the RS7 but when it comes down to it the CLS is more luxurious and the RS7 is sportier.

M6 : I had an M6 you do t get the feeling that you feel in an RS7 but still nice.

M5 : IMO it's not good looking and there are a lot of them here

    CTS-V : I agree it's not in the same league .

I agree with the comments re: the previous gen CTS-V, but the newly released model gives any German luxury sedan a run for its money and can even be had in the elusive manual. That said, RWD only = no-go for me.

I test drove a new E63 a few weeks ago. Horrible car.

It's ugly. It's heavy. It felt slow. The interior was crap. Seats had little side support, and very little adjustments. Suspension was very stiff and harsh on the highway.
Nothing about that car justified the price tag over an S6, to me.

ugly agree , audi is nicer , heavy ? no , same as S6 , interior depends on the package , seats has active support , S6 don't have that and many other options . suspension same as S6 , you can adjust it . more than anything else in AMG is the tuning options . 1000 hp for 20k works for me .
but there is few things that stopped me :
    1 depreciation MB>Audi
    2 service , fixes etc MB>audi by 3 times !!
    3 MPG audi >MB
    4 reliability audi >MB
    Still good car though

as a follow-up, I found that ALL of my AMG's suffered horrendous depreciation; and lease residuals in general were less than for comparable audi model.
but with new CTS-V, and new MB E class as well as new M5 to be shown shortly, does anyone have feel for when audi likely to have new models of 4,6,7, and 8?
new 4 out and guess S model to follow soon, and 8 in few months but can read nothing on 6's and 7's.

I'm going through that struggle right now. I can't decide between the rs7, M5, M3 or even an S7 with an ecu tune 😂. I'm young so keeping price in mind what would your recommendations be? Also got to drive in the winter with a good set of winters in Toronto....

I looked at everyone you listed but chose the Audi because it's so much faster with or without the tune

    The transmission is the difference

Google the videos of the APR RS7 racing.

If you're buying for performance this is an easy decision. If you're buying for looks it's a personal preference decision. I might have waited for the 2 door S63 if I was buying on looks.

Until you've been in a 100 octane tuned RS7 it's hard to believe a non highly modified 4500 pound car could accelerate so well. I'm not comfortable flooring it from a stop weight the wheels being pretty straight (unlike my C6Z06 which I could power slide through corners from a stop). It's a head snapper ;)

I have always loved Audi's designs, but let me be a little more specific here on why I ended up with an S6. Firstly, my S6 replaced a Cayenne GTS.

    1. The overall design. I love the look of the current 6. I just am not a fan of the 7 series, hence no RS7 for me. If there was a C7 RS6 sedan available in the US, I would own one. LOVE the interior. Typical Audi high grade sport/luxury.

    2. Rarity. Always a factor for me.

    3. Value. Different from cost. The S6 is a tremendous bang for the buck car, IMO, and that appeals to me.

    4. Phenomenal modding platform. The car is solid out of the box, but a few key, and relatively inexpensive mods make it sensational.

    5. Panamera is over twice the cost for the V8 TT variant. Not justifiable for what you get over this car, especially as a daily driver.

    6. Mercedes designs never looked as clean to me, although that is changing with some of the newer models, and the latest Mercedes interiors are really spectacular IMO.

    7. Quattro allows you to get the power to the ground, which doesn't happen in the M5/6, otherwise I may have bought the M5.

I wouldn't dismiss the new CTS-V that easily. I agree that the Gen 2 was not quite there luxury wise (performance wise it was outstanding). The Gen 3 has certainly closed the gap enough that I wouldn't lol at it.

The new CTS-V is not available in manual unfortunately.
