How high do your STs go?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So it's winter mode time, and I know a lot of you don't go all the way up, but I'm sure there's a couple who do. Could you guys tell me how high your fender to ground is with your STs all the way up? Especially the rears.

My fronts have a bit of a wheel gap, my rears almost tuck some tire. Seems off but I think I have the rears adjusted as high as possible. I just want to be sure I'm getting as much clearance as possible.

Does anyone have the measurement on the rear adjuster that's maxed out? Maybe that's all I need.

Be sure to spray or coat those threads with some sort of anti seize if you get a lot of salt on your roads.

I use marine grease hahah. Buffalo winters are probably some of the worst on cars. We use so so much salt

Word, If the rear doesn't go high enough you could always just put the stock rear springs in

It was such a pain to get them switched out the first time haha. It's not like they're too low for winter, I just find it funny the front and rear aren't even at each's "highest" setting

I feel the pain swapping. Just put somewhat stock springs back in the rear. ST's are known for not matching heights. Though most people are referring to their minimum height.

Hm I'm wondering if I'm getting spring sag in the rear.

Anyone have their rear STs at max or no?

Mine are pretty close to max in the rear and I don't think I would want to go lower. It almost tucks the tire at the current height. I've even considered getting a set of Hyperco springs with a higher spring rate, just so I could go HIGHER in the rear.

Hahah yeah seriously. For summer it's fine but winter I don't think I can get more height out of it. I just don't like the rake look

I haven't had any issues in the winter with mine. The only time I've gotten the car stuck with the Blizzaks was when the snow was up to the hood. Too much got packed under the car and I got hung up on it. I did make it a decent ways before this happened though.

Damn you guys get alot of snow up there.

Ive got my ST's all the way up in the back and have my fronts level out to the back. I ed these when I was on stock 17's. I have not ed them even after the 19's. Ive bought a complete set of 18's with blizzaks WS80's off CL from a S5 guy. I dont plan on the coil overs either on these. Probably these after Xmas

Can you measure your rear FTG for me? I just want to be sure they're at the highest.

Thats amazing hahah. My only concern is that I lost my belly pan last winter, and that "cost effective" rock auto one is flimsy plastic from what I've read. So trying to maximize height haha.

Adjusted my ST's today (raised the rear) and had the rears at 27" ftg. thats as high as it would go for me. wheels are 18" also using the ST springs. currently sitting at 26" ftg as i don't want to damage the rear fenders during the winter after Audi painted them under the rust perf warranty.

Thanks! I'll measure mine tomorrow and compare. 26" would be fine for me. For some reason I doubt I can touch 27"

Also, did you have a hole through the panel? I have rear quarter panel rust on the passenger side

I didn't have any rust "breaking through" the paint ,just rust "bubbles". They where 4-5 inches in length at the bottom of the fender. My front fenders were not covered as they cited chips/scratches as the cause of the perforation. The whole process was a headache.

Huh, you're lucky. I have the same thing but no perforation no luck on the warranty.

Ah yeah okay somethings up with mine. Not nearly that height in the rear. Do you know, even an estimate, on how high your rear adjuster is set? I think mine is only about an inch, maybe I just need to crank it higher. It felt like I was at the end of the threads though.

I actually just raise my car back up the other day and at the time, wondered that same thought. I have STs with hyperco's in the rear. I went max height in the rear with my ST Springs and I was sitting at approx 26''. So that's what u went with on all four corners

My max on the rears is just under 26" ftg. That being said, in the summer I put the rears down all the way and it seems to barely make a difference (~25" ftg at the lowest). They really don't move very much no matter how far I adjust them.

The fronts I can raise/lower dramatically though

Sounds like you need some hyperco's. When I swapped spring to those I left my rears where they were just for giggles. 24.25ftg. About as low as I could with my all-seasons

So measured my ftg, I'm at 26.3" in front and a full inch lower in back.. I'm gonna have to see if there's any more room to move the adjuster. Once it's maxed out will it just stop turning? I don't wanna break it

Another update, I checked my rear adjusters and I'm pretty sure they're all the way extended. None of the black threaded base sticks out from the collar. Yet they're an inch lower than the front. Think st will send me new springs?

The fender to ground will be lower in the rear because if you look the rear fender is much lower than the front.

Ah makes sense. But like coulditb7 said his FTG in the rear is about 26" while mine is just over 25". Hm. Maybe I should just lower the fronts to match and hope there's no issue with the snow.

TL;DR... Did you guys compare wheel/tire setups? That would affect FTG heights. Just a thought

I'm actually using a 55 series 17" snow tire, so if anything mine should be higher than normal hahah
