Question About to change the brakes on my B4....question about the parking brake release

    Hey all!

Finally got some Akebono pads for my '12 B8 Avant. I'll follow the DIY's here to change the pads, I just have a few questions regarding the parking brake release for the rear pads....

-If I do not engage my electronic parking brake via the lever inside the car, why do I have to release it manually again?

-I have the Carista App so I can use this (hopefully) to disengage the parking brake. Is there some sort of procedure I should follow? Turn on the car, disengage the brake....should I leave the ignition on the entire time? Do I have to re-engage it after?

    Thanks all!

Make sure you have beta version for Carista. PB release is only available in beta as of now. I read once in a while after you're done you might throw a code for the parking break. Check in carista and reset it when your done if it appears. Also cycle your break from inside a few times before going on the checkout ride.
