This thread might be useful. It documents disassembly of the head and reassembly. Head removal isn't required to change the timing chain and tensioner, but it makes the job easier.

I just did this over my thanksgiving break.

Make sure you research and have the needed tools.

You'll need one of these if you plan on trying to remove the tensioner bolt:

I'm not sure where my dad ordered this tool but it came in a kit that included a tool to turn the engine over with the cams and some tension locking pins or something like that. The block piece you see in that for keeping the cams in place did not come close to fitting AT ALL. The tool sucked. One of the two inner screws broke when we tried taking the tensioner bolt out (which ended up stripping, even with the correct tool, seems to be fairly common). The bolt is way overtorqued and no matter what we tried we couldn't get it. You might end up having to remove one of the cams to get the chain off, which is what we did.

That was the main problem we had, the bolt.

If you have any problems during the process just ask me and I'll see if I can help.

You probably had the same kit as the one i bought from eBay, red plastic box with bunch of tools. Its cheaply built and it will allow the cams to move so much that you might as well not use it. The one you mentioned on the link above is the correct one, because i bought it and it worked great.

Yep, red case. Wish I would've read that somewhere beforehand, oh well.
