iPhone 6 music streaming and MMI

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi all,
My '13 S4 is one of the best cars I've ever owned....except for the MMI. I haven't found a good way to play streaming music from my iPhone through the MMI, and so I'm limited to an iPod in the glove box or the radio. I've tried the Viseeo Tune2Air: it skips. If you have an iPhone, don't buy it. It seems like a good solution if you're an Android. I have one for sale if anyone wants it. I have done a fair amount of searching on the forum and have not seen a good solution. I don't want to tear apart my dash. I'd be satisfied just having an aux adapter somewhere, but Audi couldn't think of this, much less a USB (like every cheapo Kia etc now has).
So, I know that I can buy an MMI adapter and run the cable out of my glove box to the center console. Here's what I've ordered: http://amzn.com/B00L7SV6WU
Short of that, has anyone found a bluetooth streaming option for iPhone that actually works?
    Thanks in advance!

All B8.5s (13+) with MMI support A2DP (Bluetooth audio streaming). I do it all the time with my iPhone. No extra bits necessary.

My experience is that you can't have the phone paired with bluetooth and stream music as well. Am I missing something? Can you do both?

wtf are you talking about, lol. I have a 2013 s4 and I just get in the car and my phone automatically connects and the car plays music from my iPhone. if i get a call, the music pauses and the call goes through. You'd literally have to go out of your way to screw it up.

I'm pretty sure quix referred to the Viseo Tune2Air with which if you have the phone paired to the car's MMI and Tune2Air at the same time the skipping will happen. If you only keep the car connected to Tune2Air all is good, no skipping but you lose function of car's Bluetooth. I personally don't often take phone calls in the car so it doesn't bother me and if I want to make a phone call I quickly connect the phone to MMI and disconnect after but this is for prior 2013 with the 3G MMI so if OP has '13 he should have streaming thru MMI like some of you mentioned

Unless he doesn't have Nav. I think BT audio only comes with the Nav package.

Sounds to me like the op doesn't have MMI. No reason to use Tune2Air with MMI...

Well I'll just fall on my sword here. Thanks to all. There was the little issue of the "Bluetooth Audio Player" switch being on, which I did not know about. The YouTube video was the trick, thanks, Sigmon20. The bad news: I must have missed that somewhere in the instructions. The good news: it's like having a new car!
Thanks for everyone's patience. I'll leave the thread up at risk of looking silly and for anyone else who might also not have thoroughly read the instructions.

Glad to hear it worked out for you! Sometimes mine takes awhile to connect and also, very rarely, it doesn't connect and I have to go into the iPhone settings> Bluetooth> and select Audi MMI ####. I've only had to do that twice since owning the car, but if you run into that don't freak out lol.

Exactly. WTF is this thread about? I'm confused?

EDIT: Just finished reading the OP's last comment, glad you got it worked out.

Can it display a playlist or track list?

Not sure - I only use bluetooth to play streaming audio (spotify/itunes radio/pandora). Otherwise, I have a large SD card for my big library.

No. Bluetooth connections using A2DP don't have the ability to display a list of any kind. It can display current track info, play/pause, and skip. If you need anything more than that you'd need to plug in somehow or use an SDCard.

That said, I'd recommend using an SDCard as much as you can, anyway. The sound quality is vastly superior.

I thought about that...I think I am going to try to use one and see how it turns out. It sounds great through Bluetooth and the B&O system, but I though there was some degradation in the Bluetooth streaming.

Definitely is. It's still miles ahead of Sirius, but the best quality you'll get is an SDCard loaded with high-bitrate audio. The B&O system sounds fantastic with it.

Now I just need to add a sub to increase the bass at high levels...

Agreed. The jukebox or SD card has really nice quality. Sounds better to me than when I use my iPod via AMI.

All that's needed is time of playback over bluetooth. 0:00 kind of annoys me. I was in both a 2015 A3 and a 2015 Q5 and the time went along justttt fine.

Pretty sure my playlists and all music show up via Tune2Air . Doesn't that use A2DP?
