I would guess a different strokes for different folks thing. Remote tuning is good times for some people, and a nightmare for others.
For remote tuning, the person on the receiving end is responsible for
much more than just dropping the car off and stroking a check.
#1 the car needs to be tip top. Any of you on here that spin wrenches knows that this is often not the case, even on a fresh build.
Just because your n75 was fine with 6psi gates at 15psi, doesnt mean it is going to work with 12psi gates at 25psi. This one has bitten me in the ass before.
I think one of the toughest parts here is how much effort goes into putting one of these cars together. After all the blood, sweat, and tears, nobody wants to believe that there is a problem with their car.
Trust me. These guys have tuned enough cars to recognize when they are having to make changes to compensate for an issue.
This is from my car the other day. Daz made one change and saw something he didnt like. Asked if I had another pump. Mine had never been a problem, but I threw another in. No other changes.
#2 would prob be being computer literate. You need to be able to use the software for flashing and logging. These can be tricky to setup the first time, but easy to use once you get the hang of it.
And dont even ask if you can use your mac. If you gotta ask- No. And Steve Jobs doesnt like you or your car anyway
#3 Getting the proper logs so the tuner has the proper data to make the proper changes. Pretty straight forward here.
#4 communication. Much can get lost in translation by the time it makes it across the interweb. Seems like some people need the face to face or they start reading too much into an email msg.
Dont do this. These guys can get busy so messages may be short and sweet at times.
If you are good with these things above, and interested in learning more about your car, remote is the only way to go!
If some (or all) of the things above are lacking, you may be headed for a frustrating experience and would prob be better served dropping it off somewhere for a more personal touch.
