Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
As the title says. I am looking for some feedback on this from people who have had it for some time now. Any problems? Any downside?

    Thanks.

100% worth it for me, especially if you have the ECU tune.
Together, the car performs how it should have from the factory.

Totally worth it. Much smoother shifts, shows what gear you are in now, and holds gear longer in dynamic mode. Compliments the ECU tune nicely.

my question is has it helped any ones 1/4 mile times, i would assume you guys should all be able to hit a 1.6, 1.5 60' with dsg software?

I would love to our drag strip is shutdown until spring. Over the holidays I drove it 400 miles or so and even in drive the kickdown at 60 mph to pass I am looking for the traction control light to come on. There is no hesitation from the transmission. I have not done launch control yet either, it raises it to 3000 launches.

1.65 60 ft. TCU allowed me to drop the max launch rpm to avoid wheel spin on stock tires. I assume with higher launch rpm and stickier tires 1.5s 60 ft is possible but I always worry about breaking something with that much traction.

many stock tcu cars are hitting 1.65 60 (apr did 1.62 on stage 1 93 oct), i am sure it makes the shifts smoother i would just like to see it take off a .1 in a quarter to justify the cost of it, But i am very performance oriented for me a mod that costs 1k needs to show me a gain in the 1/4 mile or race situation.

True. I'm not sure if that was on stock tires or not. For myself traction was definitely an issue after stage I, which seems to be helped by the launch changes in the TCU tune. So it definitely showed a performance improvement for me but if you're already at or near perfect launch/traction/shift then it may not offer you anything aside from maybe better everyday drivability

S6/S7 TCU tunes are more about drivability than 1/4 mile times. There is a little to be gained from revving further. With really sticky tires and a great track, a high launch RPM can do 1.5s.

Under optimal conditions, the TCU tune is probably worth .05 - .08 or thereabouts. The transmission is good enough stock that I don't think there's a whole tenth to be had.

Speaking as an S6 owner, I'd get the flash for the better downshift behavior and the selectable launch. The downshift changes make city driving easier and selectable launch control is obviously useful.

Manual mode is noticeably quicker too. Again fun for the driver but no real use at the drag strip, maybe the roadcourse, but there are better machines for that in general.
