    Rear LSD options

Okay so I'm looking to go rwd. I don't want to hear about how it's stupid, or that I shouldn't take an awd car and make it rear blah blah. Just looking for all the current options for the rear diff.

As far as I know, there is the jhm diff, which I'm sure is good and everything and definitely has a great price, but I'm not to keen on helical diffs. There is also the wavetrac LSD but I don't see myself spending 1200 on it.

I saw a thread about a b5 s4 that had a Porsche 944 turbo LSD in it and only required minimal modification. Is there anything like this that would be close to being "drop in" for b7s?

    Thanks

First off how are you planning to stop sending power to the front wheels? Why dont you go with the 4-1 center diff instead of killing all power to the front. Its not like the car is set up for rwd so you still have an engine in front of the axle. Might as well use some torque vectoring for cornering. Not many people opt to go completely rwd on here. If i were you I would look into an lsd paired with a 4-1 center diff before ruining your quattro. I think you may be surprised.

You just have to remove the front axles and IIRC, weld up the center diff.

Yes, that's all you need for rwd, but that still doesn't solve the open diff problem in the rear

I believe that AUDIHERE said it best...
If youre looking for more handling and cornering capabilities and thats why you are wanting to go RWD, then a good lsd paired with the 4:1 center dif will do just that. It will change the characteristics of how the car corners and give it a more rear bias. Also adding in a good rear sway bar.
The problem with the B7 is is that it was not designed to be rwd. The motor is in front of the front axles and still makes it pig heavy up front. Not really ideal for rwd.
Either way, best of luck in your searches. Interested to see what you do.
