2006 A6 ABS module dead. So many part numbers :(

Edit: this may all be caused by faulty brake pedal switch
    Hello all,
Got a lovely A6 C 6 2.4 V6 here featured in the pic ive had for a few months and enjoying it but I got the dreaded abs/ESP light on with parking brake malfunction. Took it to the independent mechanic and an electrician checked the sensors and said I needed a new esp module . As far as I'm aware the correct module for my car has the part number 4F0614517M but i cannot find a used example anywhere . I can however find a few of 4F0614517K but I'm not sure if they are interchangeable . I really don't want to have to buy a new part when I can get a used one ! Please help if you've had this problem and which part numbers can work . Thank you very much

Hey again, I'm beginning to think it's not the abs module itself . For the last two days ive gone out in the morning to see the brake lights on despite the car being off all night . The battery has died on the occasions that the brake light was on. I charged the battery up fully and tested it along with the alternator just to be sure it wasn't a battery related problem . They were both fine . Then after researching I found out that a faulty brake light switch could cause all of these symptoms . Do u all think I should replace the brake light switch first ?

Jump started and brakes lights came on and stayed on until I pressed the pedal in a few times and would remain on if I pressed it lightly and came off the pedal .. Doesn't do it once the car warms up.. I'm thinking its faulty brake pedal switch now . Any responses greatly appreciated

Sounds like the switch to me. I don't think that would cause the fault as well though.

Thanks for the response ! I'll get it changed tomorrow anyway and see what happens as im pretty sure the switch is causing at least the battery drain .. See the thing is when I turn the car on sometimes the brake light flickers and I get the abs light on then I depress the brake pedal a few times and turn it off and back on again and the lights are off and it can stay off for 100's of miles and work perfectly .. Really strange problem im hoping it's just the pedal switch causing some sensor to think something major is wrong with the abs and turning on the dash light

Maybe take the switch apart and clean the contacts too on the inside, if that's even possible. Switches are very simple in nature.

Replaced the switch just to see . Think it resolved the battery drain problem but the ESP and abs lights are still on .. I guess I'm sure now the pump needs to be changed . The fault via VCDS is brake pressure sensor . If anyone has any used ones for sale please let me know the part no can be either 4f0614517m or k . Thanks

Did you get this fixed or find out about the part number? Have a pal who has the same problem with the exact model of your car. Thanks.
