Question Purchasing first Audi, is this a good deal?

    Hi everyone,

New member here, and very close to purchasing my first Audi, and I am excited. However I want to do everything right, and seeking some advise from the community.

The car in question is a 2011 S5 cabriolet. Here is the link:

    http://www.greenwaychryslerjeepdodge...3537579a7e.htm

    http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...CGAFHXBN006256

Asking price is $32,000, but the dealer said since it has been on the lot for a while they're willing to go to about $27,000. The car will be used as a commute to work 66miles a day roundtrip way.

Any obvious red flags here? And any good party to purchase an extended warranty with, if it is advised?

Since it's not being sold as Certified by an Audi dealer, a pre-purchase inspection on your dime by a local Audi guru would be prudent.
No reason why they should, but if they resist, that's a bad sign.

Not a big deal, but was that Tire Pressure Warning still present when you drove it?
I'm also curious what others advise about extended used car warranties...

Hi Alex. Car fax looks clean and services done. I usually call my service advisor and ask him to run the vin#. They can see if there has been any recurring complaints on the car and the exact work that was done.
It's really important to know if the top is In excellent condition as its really expensive to repair replace.
As far as price, it seems inline. I'm not certain about third party warranty purchases. I've purchased these in the past and found them to be a waste of time and money, my opinion only.
Do you plan any modifications? If you do, my S5 is for sale and has lots of upgrades. It may be spoken for but I'll let you know.
Overall, the S5 cab is a great car but definitely drive it before buying it.

    Good luck.

Thank you BoCO for the response. For the local audi guru, where would you take it? An Audi dealership maybe? I have not got to test drive the car yet, but I will have it checked from top to bottom.

    Hi Gonzoe,

I do not know a service guy, is there a recommended company to have run the VIN# for me that I can contact? I did notice in the report, that the roof was checked twice in a 2 month period. Im differently going to look into that. Could been a check pre dealer and another after, and may not be a concern but i will check. As far as modifications, outside of potentially wrapping the vehicle, and changing the rims I really haven't thought about much else; but open to suggestions. The car is so sexy as is, wouldn't want to go over board and ruin it. I would love to see your vehicle, I'm open to suggestions and other purchases. Any reason why the extended warranties in your past turn out to be a bad investment? Did it not really cover much? Or were there no need for repairs? Your post was really helpful, thank you.

I would call your local Audi dealer to have their service dept run the VIN for you as others have mentioned. It'd also be a good opportunity to start a relationship with the Service Advisor there, for the future. In terms of the PPI, I would find a good Indy Volkswagen/Audi shop that is recommended by friends or Google or Yelp. It'll be $100-200 but will be money well spent.

Best of luck, and welcome to the Audi family - you'll never wanna leave :)

I agree the S5 cab is a beautiful car but I'm biased. I would call your local dealer dealer and just be up front. "It's my first Audi and will be doing all my service with you, can you please check the history of this car?" I'm sure they will do it.
As far as aftermarket warranty, I found it a big hassle to approve, submit, argue and eventually get some money back.
There are lots of mods available for this car. Mine is a beast. Check my signature, I've done a ton to this car.

Thank you bro, appreciate it. They are giving me a hard time with getting this financed since I'm fresh out of college with no history, but fighting for my Audi lol.
