So my buddy just got a 2001 a4 1.8t quattro and he was driving it home one day, burned the clutch a little too much on a start and when he got home the car could not get into any gear. I've been playing around with the car and can't seem to figure out what's wrong. With the motor off you can shift into any gear, but when the motor's running with the clutch fully depressed it won't go into any gear. If we put the car in 1st and start the engine we can disengage the clutch to get it moving but the clutch doesn't engage until the very very end. So the problem we've got is with the clutch depressed it won't change gears and the clutch engages very late. I checked the whole hydraulic system... The master cylinder and slave cylinder weren't leaking any fluid and the reservoir is filled to the top. I'm hoping it's just somehting with the hydraulic system and not a pressure plate so let me know what you guys think. Any help and advice is appreciated!
